SilverNRed Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Link Hooray for Socialism!!! Down with cops!! I understand the value of letting people be a little stupid during their college years but maybe San Francisco should pull it back a little as the center for all things retarded. Beating up a cop in SF probably won't affect the G8 meetings.
UConn James Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 I read what the blogger says about labeling them 'anticapitalists' instead of 'anarchists' but I think 'anarchists' is right on for these people. What's got me wondering is why you put 'radical leftists' in the headline. By definition, anarchists belong neither to the left nor right; their aim is to have no government control. What you're saying is like saying bin Laden is a 'radical' Libertarian. I just went to my brother's police graduation last month, and I tell you, that picture is really disturbing. I hope he's all right. Is it all right to wish that a huge bout of both-ends flu hits those anarchist circles?

I just went to my brother's police graduation last month, and I tell you, that picture is really disturbing. I hope he's all right. Gene Frenkle Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Stupid people and extreme behavior can be found in all walks of life. Thankfully, this kind of protest does not happen all the time - otherwise you guys would be starting topics like this several times a day. Things can get out of hand in any situation where emotion is involved, and all groups have members that are less desirable and behave badly at times. I'm can clearly see that your intention is to slap some broad label on every person who is passionate enough about their beliefs to get involved and excercise their right to demonstrate, but in reality this is just an example of a few individuals giving a bad name to the rest of the group. I'm sure you're aware of all of this and are just trying to fit this incident into your world-view in order to make yourself feel superior. There is certainly nothing new about that. <insert typically clever and condescending "Hotpockets" reference here>

This one was particularily interesting because they happened to hit a cop in the head and land him in the hospital in serious condition as part of riots in San Francisco RE: the G8 meetings in Scotland. I'm sure you're aware of all of this and are just trying to fit this incident into your world-view in order to make yourself feel superior. Wacka Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 They are rich kids (The equivalent of Clarence) who for some reasaon hate their parents. If the really stood up for what they believe, they wouldn't hide their faces- that way mom and dad can't spot them on the local news. This is local for me. I saw it on the news. They threw something at the cop- he needed seven stitches and is still under observation in the hospital for brain injuries. These spoiled scum did such intellegent stuff as knocking over garbage cans and paper boxes. most of the windows they shattered were of mom and pop stores. I think there are almost 300 million people who are superior to them.
Ghost of BiB Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 American Imperialism. In about half the countries on earth, they would have been shot down in the streets. Hey, CTM. Here's another use for "non-lethal" energy directed weapons. Hard to attack shoe stores when you're blinded and your skin feels like fire.

I don't see anyone advocating military strikes on anarchists.

PTS Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 This looks like a job for The Protest Warriors. I think the US should declare War on San Francisco. Just go in there and wipe it clean. It's a nice area, too bad that 90% of the people there are wack-jobs.

Nor is it for them to decide how you should live your life. When it gets violent, nobody wins. However, with freedom as we enjoy in this country, there is always the potential for this type of thing to get out of hand, as it obviously did in this case. The protestors involved in injuring the cop should be arrested and tried by a jury of their peers, just like anyone else who commits a crime. I just don't think it's very smart to be advocating more restrictions of rights for our citizens based on a very unfortunate incident. By all accounts, this was an otherwise peaceful expression of their right to assemble and speak out against something that is perceive to be unjust. Say what you will about these people, but at least they have the conviction to stand up for what they believe in - and before you say it, I'm NOT talking about the people who hurt the cop.

Say what you will about these people, but at least they have the conviction to stand up for what they believe in - and before you say it, I'm NOT talking about the people who hurt the cop. 379341[/snapback] From what they showed on the local news here (the Bay Area) almost all of these "anarchists" (spoiled brats) where breaking windows, knocking over paper boxes, etc. As for standing up what they believe in, how come almost all of them hide their faces with bandanas or ski masks? If you believe in it so much, show your face and be proud. No. they cover their faces so when the cause damage and run away (another brave act) the cops can't identify them. The same kind of idiots tried to blockade the Port of Oakland so that we couldn't ship "war material" to Iraq- never mind that what was sent was food and stuff to help them rebuild. The cops shot tear gas and beanbags at the idiots. They said it was an unprovoked attack, but when the news footage was replayed you could see and hear bottles being thrown. When the vermin ran, molitov cocktails were found.
