But I think it's the water on the West Coast that keeps it at the forefront of your memory. You're a good man John. Having a conscience must be hell. ;)

I am still imagining people coming home from the 3rd shift

at Kodak with a knowing smile when they see a trail of roadkill,

comforted that it is a sure sign they can unwind with the

D&C when they get home.

I aim to intercede in your behalf - everybody needs a pal... :(

BTW - new firearm - used Stoeger SxS 12 ga. coach gun. Manual ejectors, and irksome safety...it invokes when the action is closed.

I bet you can guess what my nickname was? Crash

The Bison was by far the worst, the damn thing totalled the truck, cost me a fortune in deducted pay, cause it wouldn't stay dead.

I once hit a cat in Yorkshire, NY. The care just in front of me hit the same cat. It came out from under that car doing cartwheels. As I went over the top of it listening ans it hit the bottom of the full length of the car, I looked in my rear view mirror. When it stopped flying it landed on all fours and took off into the bushes to the side of Route 39. I figured he used up two of his nine lives that day.

I've also taken out two deer. The first was a clean kill of a button buck. I put it in the trunk, reported it to the state police, got a friend to butcher it for me and ended up with about 20 lbs of good venison. The second deer was a number of years later. That ran off in the dark of night, so I don't know if it eventually died or not. I also got a turkey once a few smaller birds and I think maybe a rabbit. Having been a driver for 35 years, I really don't hit animals very often.

Curious, any effort to find an owner? If possible, it's usually nice to save some little kids the experience of not knowing what happened to their pet.

I would argue that not knowing is sometimes/often preferable.
