PromoTheRobot Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 JP will struggle no more than Drew did last year in running a dumbed down offense. 372556 B-I-N-G-O!!!!! That's what everyone forgets. JP only has to out-perform a statue that needed everything dumbed-down for him. I think he's already a better QB than Drew Bledsoe right now. PTR
Bill from NYC Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 No doubt, Bledsoe is class all the way, and he did make a bad Bills team watchable, and especially in 2002, very exciting. But the fact is he has major shortcomings and I can't see him being successful again in his career. He came into the league in a time before schematic zone blitzes and complicated coverages, and now he is still trying to adjust. It is tough to watch a 12-year veteran not able to anticipate what's about to happen. The '04 Bills had a top-tier running back, a top 3 defense, and the #1 special teams. What was missing? I suppose the concrete difference is that with Bledsoe, you know what you're going to get: 8-8, maybe 9-7 (with 2 losses to New England of course). At least with JP, there is some hope of having a special player. 372770 >>>>The '04 Bills had a top-tier running back, a top 3 defense, and the #1 special teams. What was missing?<<<< 1) A Right Tackle who was in shape for the better part of September and October. 2) A head coach who was not a rookie (although the potential is clearly there). 3) Both safeties for a large chunk of the season. 4) An experienced LG. 5) Willis MaGahee (until 10/31) which left us Travis Henry to contribute in a major way to losing efforts. You can blame it all on Drew as you choose, but to do so seems rather simplistic. Sorry.

Besides, you are living proof that many of us have a "whipping boy." Right?

Sorry. 373808 1) Every team has holes on the offensive line 2) Perhaps they wouldn't have had a rookie head coach if Bledsoe could've won a few games for the previous coach. And, a 12-year veteran at QB should make it easy on a rookie head coach. 3) Every team has injuries 4) Bledsoe made a line look a lot worse than it really is. 5) The rookie head coach (remember?) couldn't just hand Willis the starting job (at the risk of alienating the veterans on the team). He had to give him a chance to earn it, which he did. Shall I repeat? A top-tier running back, two top-tier receivers, a top-3 defense, the #1 special teams...what was missing? A QB. A decent 12-year vet (and Pro Bowl caliber) QB would have taken this team to at least a playoff game. But it would have been a road game, and Bledsoe would have been terrible, and the Colts wouldve beaten the Bills 59-3.
BillnutinHouston Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 A crazier prediction would be that Holcomb starts the opener even though JP is healthy - that happens to be my prediction. 372413 Glad you admit that is a crazy prediction.
R. Rich Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 TA broke down the AFC east today. Rod Woodson named JP as the only reason why the Bills will not contend with The Pats for the best of the east. Then he went on and on trying to get Dante Robinson of the Texans to say he will pick off not one but two passes in the season opener, which CB Robinson DID NOT do. Screw you Rod. 372380 He gave his opinion on Losman, saying he thought JP would struggle in his first year as the starter? Then, he tried to get Dunta Robinson to say he was going to pick off a couple of passes in the season opener? That bastard. We should kill him now. Get it straight, Woodson and all others 'experts'........your opinion on the Bills is that we're going to the Super Bowl. That's right; 19-0, baby! That's the only opinion you're allowed to have. What gives you the right to pass judgment on a quarterback anyway, huh?
cåblelady Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 We should kill him now. 374432 Thou shalt not kill.
