I am looking to buy a horse farm in East Aurora and if Ed Oliver were traded away I could get a real cushy deal.

Buffalo drafted some much bigger defensive players, Ed is small  6'1" and has a fairly big contract. Branden Beane needs cap space for the next superstar wide receiver. You probably don't care about stupid wide receivers but I do.

Anyway....

I am hoping to get the horses too. 🐎

Sorry don't see Ed galloping off into the sunset anytime soon.

It's a shame you care about stupid wide receivers bc Beane doesn't care about wide receivers, stupid or smart.

They just restructured Ed so he will be here another two years at least…

He made his presence felt in the playoffs last season…we haven’t been able to say that too often previously …

if he is playing well I’d be happy to keep him even longer …. His deal is favourable …

a lot of younger people must look at that and think WTF?

unfortunately I’m not one of them 😢

Oliver is one of only 2 DTs on our roster with significant NFL experience, and he's a damn good player (most of the time). No chance he's traded.

There’s a very easy solution to that…

Did you find your wallet, or possibly somebody else's?

This isn't even a question. Ed Oliver isn't going anywhere this season. He carries a 32 million dollar Dead Cap hit.

It's not a real post. You got baited.

If anyone would, it would be me.

One of my biggest weaknesses on the scouting report is being able to tell when people are sh1tposting 😄

Am I in some sort of twilight zone???

Even Beane understands it is win now at all costs. He just spent an entire draft trying to fix the defense. Don't buy his BPA BS. He went into the draft with two objectives - replace Douglas and get multiple bodies for the DL.

If Beane was worried about the future he would have drafted a LT to replace Dawkins in a year or two.

Oliver isn't going anywhere.  He will never live up to his draft position nor even be dominant, but he is a solid player.  If Bosa can stay healthy and the PED cheats push Epenesa off the roster, the DL should be much better than last year with the corpse of Von Miller.

Epenesa would seem to be the 5th wheel.  Rarely makes big plays.  I don't know if his contract helps his cause but he seems expendable,

Nah, not really.  As of next year, his cap his is 24M and dead cap at 21, there’s a way out right there.  Could post June 1 cut him and save a boat load.  He needs to earn it again this year.

Taking $21M in dead cap is a nuclear option when you only have to pay the guy an extra $3M to play all year for you. no chance that happens.

He has 19 sacks over the last 3 years. Rousseau has 21 and plays a lot more.

I am all on board on the next superstar wide receiver train however that recently drafted 7th rounder looks promising.......NOT.

I sure hope that now that we have drafted a 1DT -- yes he did NOT play 1DT at Kentucky but we will use him that way -- to slide next to Ed Oliver when he is ready, that Ed Oliver can be the backfield disrupter that he was in college.

So I hope Mr Beane finds that money elsewhere.

With respect to your horse need that requires filling, perhaps you can acquire a horse from this guy?

Oliver's cap hit if we got rid of him in 2026 would be $21.585M. He's not going anywhere.

More deep research conducted before making and well thought out post.  Maybe check the post June 1 cut/trade before posting definitive nonsense?  If you took two seconds to look…   $9.2M hit the next 3 years with savings of 2M, 15M, 16M.

Obviously optimal, but Beane has proven he’s willing take on large cap hits to shed players he no longer wants.

Someone is still mad from another thread. You're the guy complaining about not investing in the offense and you want to cut a defensive player and push dead cap to future years to handcuff the cap. Let's just leave the issue in the other thread and decide not to like each other and not cluster every other thread on the board with this nonsense. I'm going to do it regardless but you can feel free to remain triggered.

I could see them trading Oliver next offseason,  that gives the Bills one year for rookies to develop.  As for Beane,  he traded a 3rd rounder for Copper because the receivers on this team struggle to get separation.

It cost us in final drive against Chiefs in title game

Actually what cost us on the final drive had nothing to do with separation, and we in fact had guys wide open and the plays were not made.  For example, Josh Allen having a pass to a wide open Samuel and sure first down knocked down at the line of scrimmage.  Or Josh Allen getting fooled on 4th down about where the blitz was coming from and cheating the protection on the wrong side leading to Allen not seeing a wide open Shakir to the left for an easy first down and instead heaving to heave an inaccurate pass (due to the unblocked blitz in his face) to what had been a wide open Kincaid by a wide margin , except the heave was way behind him forcing Kincaid on bad knees to try and stop and come back to the ball.

No disrespect, but we had separation all over the place on the final drive, and open guys on pretty much every play…not executing on those plays is what cost us on the final drive.
