HOUSE Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I am looking to buy a horse farm in East Aurora and if Ed Oliver were traded away I could get a real cushy deal. Buffalo drafted some much bigger defensive players, Ed is small 6'1" and has a fairly big contract. Branden Beane needs cap space for the next superstar wide receiver. You probably don't care about stupid wide receivers but I do. Anyway.... I am hoping to get the horses too. 🐎 1 5 8 Quote

Niagara Dude Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I could see them trading Oliver next offseason, that gives the Bills one year for rookies to develop. As for Beane, he traded a 3rd rounder for Copper because the receivers on this team struggle to get separation. It cost us in final drive against Chiefs in title game 1 1 1 Quote

He carries a 32 million dollar Dead Cap hit. I'm kind of baffled with why so many posters are looking at the improvements we made on the Line and rather than thinking we've improved the rotation - are like "cool now we can trade some people away". It isn't an improvement in depth of rotation if we're just moving one person out for another. Edited 3 hours ago by BillsFanForever19 2 1 1 Quote
BigDingus Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Well if you got that kinda money, could you hire me to get me out of Texas? I don't know sh*t about horses, but I'll clean your toilets if it means I get to live in Buffalo! 😉 2 minutes ago, BillsFanForever19 said: I'm kind of baffled with why so many posters are looking at the improvements we made on the Line and rather than thinking we've improved the rotation - are like "cool now we can trade some people away". You don't just keep every player forever & add more on top of them. Edited 3 hours ago by BigDingus 1 1 2 1 Quote

GunnerBill Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Without a shadow of a doubt. Ed is here at least two more seasons. 2027 is when it becomes a conversation. 2 2 Quote
BullBuchanan Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He's uncuttable/tradeable until after 2026. I'd be shocked if he doesn't play out his whole deal the way it's structured. 2 1 Quote

Now instead of Carter coming in when Ed comes off the field, we'll have Sanders. Two strong 3T's at all times. Sanders also has positional flexibility and there will be times in Pass Rush packages where we'll put Sanders next to Oliver. We rotate heavily along the Line, so Sanders is going to get a ton of work even with Oliver there. We didn't Draft him to replace Ed this season. Maybe next season (at the absolute earliest), depending on how he performs. But it's crazy to think of doing it now, even if Ed didn't have such an expensive Dead Cap hit. We have no idea what Sanders will look like in his Rookie season and Ogunjobi is on Suspension until Week 7. Improving the rotation to a point where we have strong DE's and DT's rotating in and out at all times is the improvement for this year. And with how often we're switching guys in and out, all of them will see usage and stay fresh. Edited 3 hours ago by BillsFanForever19 1 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Am I in some sort of twilight zone??? Even Beane understands it is win now at all costs. He just spent an entire draft trying to fix the defense. Don't buy his BPA BS. He went into the draft with two objectives - replace Douglas and get multiple bodies for the DL. If Beane was worried about the future he would have drafted a LT to replace Dawkins in a year or two. Oliver isn't going anywhere. He will never live up to his draft position nor even be dominant, but he is a solid player. If Bosa can stay healthy and the PED cheats push Epenesa off the roster, the DL should be much better than last year with the corpse of Von Miller. 1 1 Quote

Could post June 1 cut him and save a boat load. He needs to earn it again this year. Quote

While I agree that we should have one of those and make a move for one of those at some point, if his words over the past two days on WGR and especially on McAfee today are any indication - I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening anytime soon.
