Interesting tidbit??.....Bills select 3 team captains in this draft....

Landon Jackson, Deone Walker, and Dorian Strong were all multi-year team captains for their College teams.

 

I guess this shows the Bills value leadership qualities in its depth players......a good strategy, IMO.

That is interesting. I bet a lot of players that make it to the NFL, especially in the higher rounds, were captains because they were just the best players on their teams. But it is definitely something that the Bills value. They pay attention to culture and lockerroom impact.

Yea I believe we drafted 4 college team captains last year too. It was talked about on Reddit last year after so many were drafted and it was said we had drafted three team captains in 3 of the prior 4 drafts too.

Has been their MO for a long time.  I wish they trusted their own ability to coach and develop a bit more - I think the focus on Boy Scouts has cost them some playmakers.

this has to be at least a portion of it. There is likely some “tie goes to the earned captain profile” in our room though if there are two closely ranked and ones iffy on leadership

Last year it was heavily touted that DeWayne Carter was a multi-year captain at Duke and that’s one of the things that attracted the Bills to him. So far that hasn’t amounted to much on the field. We’ll see how this year goes for him.

I think Dorian Strong is going to be one of under the wire/sneaky good draft picks. He seems to exude what the Bills like and with way we do with low drafted CBs I wouldn't be shocked if he replaces J'Marcus Ingram this year and eventually replaces Taron Johnson.

McBeane have drafted a ton of captains. Not surprising given how they run things. Culture and such.

What the Bills do is probably not out of line with the rest of the NFL.   This is an old article from 2015 and talks about the top 350 players that CBSSports rated as draftable rather than those actually drafted but they found that 149 out of 327 draft prospects were team captains with the remaining 23 from teams that only had game captains.

 

So basically about 4 out of every 9 drafted player is a team captain.  So having 3 team captains in a draft is pretty much par for the course.

Yea that's true

 

 there's a lot of seniors who get drafted who were captains... 4-5 years of experience and being around 

 

BUT there's also plenty of seniors who will never be voted captain lol

Most of our draft grades have been A- to B- but overall i feel like we had a great draft. Do wish we would have done something at reciever
