Mine did.  Also wrestled and played lacrosse.  Football and wrestling were his best sports by far.

Interesting part? Suffered his worst concussion wrestling.  Concussions were always a concern in football, wrestling was not.

There are many conversations we probably should have had years ago and didn’t. This is one of them 😆

8 year old son plays flag football now.

maybe this discussion will be revisited in high school if he’s still interested in playing.

We did until he was a freshman playing varsity.  Got lit up on kick off coverage wicked concussion.  Was out rest of the year,  took probably 6 months for symptoms to subside.  This was his second one but we decided the risk wasn't worth it

Did you run out of space with the title or was this intentional click bait?

(yes, it’s rhetorical)

I fully expected to come here and see a picture of a very attractive ladyboy, extremely overweight onlyfans model, or a slightly appealing androgynous figure, or a proactively shaped piece of fruit. I was like, “I’ll play.”

But yeah, if my kid wants to play football, sure

Flag football leagues and teams all around my area now. Gaining popularity.

Only a matter of time when there is a professional women's football league. They already have them in basketball and hockey.

Yes

Honestly I would not watch the Bills play if I felt the opposite.

I coach football, and I think it's a case-by-case basis.   My oldest son started begging to play youth football at 6 years old.   I told him absolutely not.    I love the game but I dont think there is a reason in the world for 6 years olds to be putting on equipment their heads can't hold up and hitting one another with it.    I relented at 9, which I still think is too early.  I will fully admit that part of the reason I allowed him to do it was because he has a good arm and I knew he'd end up playing QB.

He's played for 5 years never had an injury and is the starter on his JV team.   Last year he watched one of his O-Line members get a nasty concussion.  The kids eyes rolled into his head.   My son broke down after the game and thought about quitting.  I even considered pulling him because what are we really doing here.

My youngest son is a tall thinly built kid.   He wants to play badly but he doesnt have the skill or body mass his older brother has.  I dont see the benefit of him playing right now.  He is a good baseball and basketball player and I'd rather him focus on those sports.

Football is a fantastic sport that teaches kids a ton about work ethic and sacrifice.   That said, you really need to weigh the benefits for your kids.    Also, you have to be honest with yourself about your kid's ability and size.   I cant tell you how many kid's parents Ive dealt with who think their kid is a NFL superstar in the making.    Even at the youth and high school level its a dangerous sport.   Dont send your kid to be someone's tackling dummy.
