My father wouldn’t stand up for me, so I quit football. I signed up for baseball, and I’ll be damned if the same guy didn’t coach there too, and he drafted me again. I was not super special, I think he just liked to torment me. 😂 EDIT: Not every kid needs a grown man to get in his face and scream at him and thump him on his earhole as a 5th grader. Please just tell me what you want. Wouldn’t that be easier? I got scanned. Found nothing. 🙃 Screaming, inspiring head slap. late ‘60’s early ‘70’s normalcy. Freshman, JV smelling salt reviving, get back in there. Me not see what wrong. Quote

I ended up with a concussion. Really weird feeling. Ironically because I crowded the plate my whole life I got hit in the head 3 times...but that one particular at bat I just collapsed. So they can happen in any sport. Absolutely. Except maybe synchronized swimming? JK I get the seriousness of concussions. I will say, my son learned a lot from playing sports. Leadership being one of them. Edited 7 hours ago by davefan66 Quote

Draconator Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago My dad was way into Baseball. He used to manage American Legion travel teams for years. But if you think Baseball can't be very dangerous, think again. One game, my brother who was on my dad's teams was asked to throw batting practice to the team's slugger. Led the league in HR's, all that. On the very first pitch, the guy hit a line drive so hard back at my brother, he didn't even see it. The ball hit my brother square in the nose. Broke my brother's nose in a perfect triangular pattern. One inch lower, my brother would have lost all his teeth. One inch higher, my brother would have been killed instantly. Fortunately, my brother when he got to the hospital, his case was reviewed by a world renown plastic surgeon. Once my brother was stabilized, this plastic surgeon did the surgery to repair my brother's face. You can't tell this happened to him by looking at him today. Quote
