And to be clear I am not hating on the draft. The most important part of the draft is the premium picks the first two days and I think Beane did as good a job with them as he has since 2018.

I am a bit more ciritical of his approach to the vet market in terms of FA and trades but I have no doubt the Bills will win the division and win a playoff game or two as long as Josh is healthy. My worry is that we will end up facing KC having the ball at the end, for a 3rd year in a row and not be able to get it done. And I am less persuaded that just upgrading the defense is the answer there. That isn't how the Bills - Chiefs games are. It won't matter whether we play a 32-29 game or a 20-17 game. The result will come down to the final 3 minutes and I think all of us would rather in that situation the ball be in Josh's hand than in Pat's. And then we gotta make the critical plays. Do we yet have the guys to do it?

I hope Jimbo is on the field those final 3 minutes.

Proof that we need help at WR- hate away

Everyone knows that, but taking some guy in the fourth or fifth round, that they had a bad grade on, just to make fans happy, wasn’t the plan.

I just wonder if when they traded up to 109 it was all done before the Raiders picked and were going to grab Thornton. Then were like we'll, screw it we'll just take Walker now. Not that we'll ever really know.🫣

I can totally understand this line of thinking and am sympathetic to it and concerned about it as well.  But my hope is that we've made enough incremental improvements on D (including a speedy CB) that it won't come down to needing to score ourselves at the end.  Many factors explain why we lost to KC - Sure there were offensive reasons but make no mistake, when Benford went out and Elam came in, that was a huge factor/issue.

I just really doubt that. I know it hasn't happened in the playoffs but we have played defensive battles against them in the regular season. 20-17 and 24-20. If we hold them to 20, I bet they hold us right around that too and it still comes down to the final 2 or 3 minutes of the ball game.

I just want an outside guy that will potentially push Palmer to the 4th or 5th WR. Then have Palmer rotate in every now and then.

Bills are in trouble if Palmer is one of the core 3.

He's not that good

I would like this signing

He’s being paid $13m a year. That tells us he’s getting some snaps. Top 10 in separation in the NFL. Seems like he’s on the upswing in his career arc. I feel Bills are in great shape with him as top 3!

I don’t disagree, but didn’t the Eagles hand us the blueprint to beat the Chiefs? They made that offense and Mahomes look pretty average. Seems to me the plan for this draft and offseason was to get the bodies on defense to do just that. The Bills have not fared well in shootouts with the Chiefs.

Yea. But the Bills - Chiefs will come down to the end. The two teams know one another too well and they prepare for one another too well. The Chiefs ran 5 plays in the AFCCG they hadnt run all season. And then even when they couldn't move the ball at all vs Philly they ran zero new plays. I just think that is the reality of this rivalry. Maybe one blows the other out once in every 7 or 8 games. Most will come down to the end of the 4th. Whether shootouts or defensive battles.

Good point.  Seems to me like the guys we’re investing our best resources in (diggs, Kincaid, and to a lesser extent ) haven’t been able to get it done.  Diggs was elite. Couldn’t make the plays when needed.  Kincaid, trade up and use a 1st.  Drops pass he needed to catch.   Our pro bowl LT gets bullrushed and causes an incompletion.  Talented players not coming through when the opportunity arises.

Only time will tell.

That's not how Bills-Chiefs games are for the Bills. It's exactly how the last 2 have been for the Chiefs. It would be nice to see a game against a quality opponent, Chiefs or otherwise, with the Bills holding a 1 score lead and feel like the defense actually had a prayer of closing it out. I mean, recent history has basically demonstrated in a 1 score game that unless the Bills score as time expires or the opponent's TE drops a 2-pt conversion in the end zone they're likely to lose.

Right? When I saw people still clamoring for them to take a WR in the 6th or 7th it became pretty clear they just wanted one just to say they drafted one. At that point tho there isn't anyone on the board that's gonna come in and have an actual impact for this season.

Far as I can tell, a banged up secondary and their #1 CB going out on the first quarter of the AFCCG had more impact than not having a certain type of pass catcher. And the DL struggled to get home against Mahomes since the coverage broke down so quickly, dude had the ball out before anyone got to him. So...they clearly addressed that in the draft with three DBs and three DL.

Given their diligence done on WR prospects this year I'm sure they had a couple guys targeted but the board just didn't fall their way. And the one dude they did the most homework on, Isaiah Bond, turned out to be a real turd salad.

No the argument I was responding to is improve the defense and you won't need the plays at the end to win at the end. You will. Those games always come down to the end. Now could it be that it is our D out there trying to make the stop that their D has the last two years? Sure. And maybe the defensive upgrades mean we will but I'm sceptical. And I guarantee if you offered any Chiefs fan the choice... final big drive of the game... ball in Josh's hands or in Pat's they'd take Pat's every single time. The same as we'd take Josh's. Yes you can win it with your defense on the final drive. But when you are talking two elite quarterbacks the offense should have the advantage.

Is this based off of his abilities or just the numbers he put up?

Jeremy White and many Bills fans- Bills should want to be better at Wr

BB- stop your crying. We were great last year. Forget that we scrambled to find a WR in season and gave up a 3rd because we couldn't get separation. And as a result still couldn't get separation.

Bills fans- Yeah Go Beane!!! You tell em. Jeremy white sucks.

Beane has Moore in for a visit following the interview

Wait.....what!?

reminds me of when my son gets challenged to clean his room. He argues with his mom that "the room is clean and she's nagging him". as soon as he gets off the phone with her, he runs upstairs and cleans his room.

I agree with this. The way to beat the Chiefs is to smash them in the face, rushing 4. Beane seems to be trying to get there.
