WR is not the reason the Bills have not advanced in the playoffs. The "d" has come up small year after year. I was hoping that the Bills focused heavily on strengthening that side of the ball in this draft. Eagles showed the way. Sure but there were plenty of opportunities to put up numbers and he was worse than Gabe Davis. again, I get Beane’s frustration but it’s weird that he so aggressive about it because it’s a valid criticism. Samuel was an awful signing. Palmer has been pretty mid. Coleman had questions about separating coming and was literally invisible at the end of the season while Worthy, Ladd, BTJ were making monster plays. Obviously these guys can improve but there is a lot of evidence that besides Coleman, these are kinda average at best bet guys (love Shakir however). that said, it’s probably the most exciting Buffalo radio moment in like 20 years so it’s a win win. The Eagles set a postseason record for points scored last year. Coleman got hurt. As did Samuel. I never call any athlete a bust if their performance was affected by injury. If Samuel is healthy he makes plays so it was not an awful signing. It’s a legitimate concern about him staying healthy give his history. Coleman has to continue to improve; Beane and McDermott called him out on that and I expect he will. Meanwhile we have people also bashing Kincaid but he tried to play banged up as well. And we have people ignoring the impact of the backs in the passing game. What Beane said was true. At this time last year people laughed about things like signing Hollins or expecting Shakir to improve. But with that crew they had a great, balanced offense and an MVP QB who many (including me) bashed him for taking. You look at the weakness of the team and it’s more on the defensive side (and some of that is on Beane to be fair). So you try to make that side better. Hairston put it best regarding the focus on the D. Get the ball back to Josh. Always enjoy our exchanges. Edited 8 hours ago by oldmanfan 1 Quote

For all the "Bills need a #1 WR", how would you all feel if they went out and signed Bond? A lot of other factors with Bond. And obviously I want a number 1 but I’d settle for a field stretcher with number 1 traits. I don’t believe there is anyone on this roster that fits that description. Also having one of those guys makes your entire offense better. also, the eagles gave up less that 3 yards/ game than our defense that needed an entire draft to upgrade. these are first world problems and we have a very good roster. Just think this is a bigger need than Beane seems to believe it is. Allen gets paid a ton but it’s a lot on him. Mahomes has struggled because of supporting cast. Brady did. This guys aren’t superhuman. 2 1 Quote

He said the teams with quarterbacks like Josh Allen (Ravens, Eagles, Chiefs) should do everything they can to improve the defense because Josh can’t help on the defensive side of the ball. He was afraid the Bills would not stick to the strategy and he was happy that they did drafting defense early and often. I just thought it was a pretty interesting take when you typically hear guys talking about adding weapons around the QB. Best coach in the NFL for a reason. Quote

SCBills Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Thought Jeremy White handled it really well. It’s not his place to fight with the GM. He respectfully defended his commentary and carried on with the conversation. Beane might be the 3rd best GM in the NFL.. problem is, the two guys ahead of him keep winning Super Bowls. This year will go a long way in either closing that gap or potentially exposing him as someone who might actually waste Josh Allen. I think he knows this is a big year.. Hes betting on his defensive overhaul and recent high draft picks in Cole Bishop, Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid. He's betting on extending in-house guys he believes in. He’s betting on recent FA signings in Curtis Samuel, Joey Bosa, Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi. There could be alot of foundational pieces for Allen’s second window or we could continue to chase the white whale. 4 Quote

Palmer isn’t replacing Cooper, they are completely two different types of WR. Could Palmer conditionally fill the X role, sure, but I would assume that’s not where he will primarily line up. If Shavers has to play any meaningful minutes, our team is in a world of hurt. The way I see it, we don’t have a traditional X type WR, unless the plan is to put Coleman there. I hope that is not the case…but not many options because the WR room is full of slot and Z’s. 1 1 Quote

Hairston put it best regarding the focus on the D. Get the ball back to Josh. Always enjoy our exchanges. I do as well. Always respect and just seeing things a little differently. 🤝 - Samuel is a 1st rounder who averages 450/ season. He kinda is what he is. I’m sure he will be better this year because it’s hard for him to be worse. - Mack had less than 400 yards receiving. We also had to make a trade because our passing attack was so limited with our options. I’d argue the fact that Mack Hollins was so involved says more about the other guys than him (he maximized what he is so good on him for getting a pay raise). - I was not very high on Coleman because the lack of separation and he is not a great route runner. But he had some good moments before the injury. But it’s tough because I really like some other guys in that draft and I don’t know Coleman will be a number 1 type guy. - Shakir is about as solid as they come and I love the guy. But he’s a slot guy who is better when there are better options around him. I don’t think DCs fear him as solid as he is. it’s April and not much to talk about so the Beane interview is good conversation. But Leslie Frazier got let go after multiple top 3 defenses. This has been a great stretch of Bills football and I’m so grateful for it. But this is the SB window and I just don’t know if we are fully maximizing Allen and the draft is the cheapest way to get a potential star wr. and if Beane thinks WGR is bad, maybe he should see what it is like in NYC, Boston, or Philly. But it’s not a big deal either way. Good conversation. 6 minutes ago, SCBills said: Thought Jeremy White handled it really well. It’s not his place to fight with the GM. I didn’t listen to the full interview but if WGR wanted to really press him, they could have asked about their d linemen evaluation or signing 2!!! Guys with PED suspensions. Beane can’t think he above criticism because he would get roasted anywhere for those moves. 1 Quote

I don't think Allen's hand/wrist injury was from getting beat up in the pocket. I think it happened when he was doing a super Josh thing earlier in the year on a scramble. Easy to reaggrevate though as I think we saw it as a nagging issue throughout the season from contact as benign as Josh breaking a fall when pushed, etc. There seemed to be an epidemic of hand/wrist injuries across the team last year. As far as the Cook situation there is no sense getting wrapped around the axle and we have some solid backups in Davis and Johnson and they both have good hands and decent speed. Worse case is that Cook plays out this season committed to showcasing his value so he can hit free agency with the best negotiating position possible. Quote
PrimeTime101 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago What you have to do is listen to them complain about "not drafting WR".. That was the whole point.. All about the draft.. No one has said.. including Beane that he is "Not done with the position". The point of Beane chiming in was the draft.. 1. This was NOT a deep WR draft. 2. The Value at WR position just was not there. 3. YES we lost post season games mostly because of our offense.. it was defense.. Coaching.. and dumb refs.. Defense got Addressed.. Refs got addressed now that they have rolled back to pre covid behavior and yes.. I thought Jeremy was having a pitty party about not drafting WR.. Jeremy got what he asked for.. and at the end.. Jeremy looked bad. Bad Look for WGR.. I stand by that. Quote
NoSaint Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I have a hard time reconciling this…. last year was a reset year where we overachieved. Some lucky bounces, relatively good health and an incredibly weak division. coming out of the reset our reloading includes Joey bosa, Josh Palmer and hoecht? Sounds like running it back with the reset team, no? I worry we may see more games like that early season ravens-Texans pair where the team really struggled. On offense. 2 Quote

This is what happens when you have a press corps thats a social club full of fanboys/girls. Jeremy doesnt want to lose access to the club room with the good sushi, I guess. Yeah I kind of agree. I also just think a lot of these Buffalo sports guys (at least the WGR guys) are kinda amateurs. Jeremy and Joe are kinda representative of the "Barstoolification" of sports media. I don't care about your golf game or your upside down hats or whatever the *****. Jeremy I liked as the younger-slightly "hipper" (but not really, Howard was way cooler imo) half of the Howard and Jeremy show. But he doesn't really carry the show on his own. And while I agree that the Bills should care more about the WR position than they do, the whole "WR train" brand he's created is kinda corny as *****. And Joe? I honestly don't get what he's good for. The only truly positive thing I'll say about him as he has the rhythm of the radio down pat. Like he sounds professional. But he also sounds like he's 17. And when I listen to him, I feel like he doesn't really add anything. Like all the rest of the main WGR guys I usually know where their point of view and personality comes through. I know many seem to not like Nate Geary but at least he has opinions. Joe is boring, sounds like he's 12, and did I mention he's boring. The job just seems too big for him. I personally think Schopp and the Bulldog are fun even if Schopp clearly has a sickness with the fantasy football (I'm not joking....does he really have hundreds of teams?) and Bulldog doesn't actually seem to do much more than just show up. Schopp does get impatient with callers, but at the same time, many are idiots who doesn't know what they are talking about. However, he also can be a bit of an ####### even to those who are bringing up an interesting thought. Sal Cappacio might be the worst though. Even after the Beane thing today, with Schopp and Bulldog definitely leading the direction of Beane being ridiculous about the whole thing, Sal of course has to tow the Bills company line saying something like "how could they bring in another WR, where would he even play?" and the whole thing. He's a total company man for the Bills which is insane, cuz isn't the company he works WGR? Not the Buffalo Bills. As I've seen others say, he just seems to LOVE his cozy relationship with the team. And to an extent, I get it. We are all Bills fans, so are those guys. But the other WGR guys at least have the guts to say things could be better. Sal just loves that access so much he just can't do it for the most part. Perhaps as a kid it just seemed like way more mature and cool, but listening to WGR it seemed like adults discussing sports. It was a bit much but it still seemed like adults. Art Wander and whoever. A lot of these guys just don't seem like serious people. And I get it, it's just sports talk, but still. Lastly, am I surprised Jeremy folded under pressure? Nah. I probably would too. But I wish he had held his own and truly went to bat against Beane, at least bringing the need to bring in Amari Cooper due to the Bills offense being stopped dead in it's tracks twice thru five games. But I get that. Beane showed up and he wilted. It is what it is. Edited 6 hours ago by Jim Quote
