eball Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Good for Brandon, calling these guys out. He’s 100% right. The name of the game is scoring points and every team has a salary cap to deal with so you can’t play fantasy football. There is no question that defense has prevented the Bills from advancing farther in the playoffs. Period. 6 11 Quote

Beane traded a slew of picks for Diggs. Traded day 2 picks for Benjamin and Copper. Drafted a Wr last season at 33. Signed arguably the top wr in FA. 2 of his best draft hits were on Davis and Shakir. I think wr is comparable to every other position on the roster. Only one of those things worked. A blind man could see nobody could get open last year. The defense compresses our pass catchers because they can't take off the top. Drafting 2 pass catchers in the last 2 years that can't get open doesn't help. Sorry but Jeremy is 100% right on this. It is obvious to anyone who watches film what the gap is. 3 1 10 1 Quote

We can differentiate between the offense being good and the WRs being good. Both sides have a point. I'm sure it was just Beane reacting to a long tough weekend. https://t.co/Mv7yIhvCDQ 1 Quote
Gregg Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Have Beane and McDermott given the post draft press conferences yet with the local media or is that coming this week. Quote

It is obvious to anyone who watches film what the gap is. And Palmer was brought in as a guy to get open. Plus, if we get a constant speed guy to take the top off the D, we will see others open. There were times that WR's were open, and Josh did get that far in the progression. We needed big time upgardes on D. That is where are focus should be. That is the part that has been breaking down each postseason! 1 Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Beane going out and acquiring Pickens, Addison, etc today would be an all time hilarious trade now 3 Quote

I'm sure Beane would have loved to have the option to take a flyer on the best WR in the draft both last and this year. But when you look at where the team broke down last year, it was on D! 1 1 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The exact thing I said on this board over the weekend. They win all the time and score tons of points. Not getting a crap shoot wideout in the 3rd round isnt the reason they were going to lose this year. Id be annoyed if I was him as well. 13 1 1 Quote
Brand J Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Don’t disagree at all with what he said. It doesn’t matter how you get it done on offense, or how you score, if you set team records on that side of the ball, but have a defense that continues to bring the squad down year after year, shore up that defense. Would we like an alpha #1 receiver for Josh? Sure. But that guy likely wasn’t available in the 3rd+ round anyway. Or maybe he was, time will tell. I’m more than happy with the draft’s focus on defense. Most of you overlook the fact that a better defense (I’m not talking about a #1 overall that consistently folds) will directly help Josh and the offense as well. 7 Quote
ddaryl Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I agree and I do not understand AT ALL those that whine about the WR position. 1 2 Quote

Matt_In_NH Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Preach beane! Preach! Love watching their faces during that. there is a strange obsession with wide receivers. People absolutely think that’s how you build a team and it is completely wrong. surprised white didn’t have a toy choo choo. Edited 7 hours ago by Matt_In_NH 3 Quote

billsfan714 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) I dont know how anyone watching towards the end of last year, the games against the Rams and Lions, saying you know what were lacking, a WR. Scoring wasn't the problem. I said before this stat stood out to me, we allowed the 5th worst completion percentage on defense, there were only 4 teams worse than us. Not going to win championships being that bad on D. Edited 7 hours ago by billsfan714 4 1 Quote
Cray51 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The two of them were sitting there complaining about the draft where we addressed 3 of our most glaring holes, while taking guys with really good upside and traits. They spent very little time acknowledging the good about the improvements to defense, and spent most of the time saying "well, you scored 30, but against KC you only scored 29... we should've taken a receiver". I was all for a WR in round 4, the first three rounds the bes tpicks were clearly defense. If Golden fell to 24, I could have seen an option for a trade up. However, he didn't. I understand saying "yea, maybe in round 4 a guy like Royals could have been a nice find", but to sit here and just whine about WR this and WR that, I'm not shocked Beane is pissed. And then to just go "well, I wish you listened to the first 2.5 hours of the show", uhhh it was obvious that White was only really concerned about the lack of WR as a result of the draft. The praise was very minor in comparison to the 40 minutes of WR talk. Idiots 6 1 Quote
blitzboy54 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Beane sounded to me like a guy who felt the pressure. Realizes he left himself open to criticism. The kind of criticism that will put hot seat pressure on him if the offense takes a step back and the reason is we can't get guys open deep. KC keeps stacking speed and we don't. If that becomes a problem he knows the NFL world will blame him. The trade up in the 4th was the point everyone scratched their heads. The Bills have put a TON of resources into the Def. Even years they were dominants they get worked in the playoffs. I would be uncomfortable too if I were Beane in this spot. He is no longer in control of the narrative and he no longer get credit for drafting Josh. 1 2 4 Quote
section122 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I just listened and this is entirely overblown. He defended not getting a WR but at no time did he start yelling. I expected this to be way hotter and louder. When they switched the conversation to defense it was a very cordial conversation. 4 Quote
