Beane has historically spent a ton of capital on addressing the wide receiver room. This offseason hasn't been any different.

Huh?  Here is Bills WR drafted by Beane

7th round pick 2025

2nd round pick 24 Keon

5th round pick 23 Shorter

5th round pick 22 Shakir

6th round 21 Stevenson

Traded 1st for Diggs(should of drafted Jefferson), 3rd Gabe 6th Hodgkins 2020

zero WR 2019

7th Ray Ray McCloud

besides using so many premium draft picks on WR, we signed dumpster dived for Sherfield, Deonte Hardy, Kelvin Benjamin, Victor Boldin, Robert Foster, McKenzie, Duke Williams, Andre Williams, Kumerow, Sanders, Crowder, Austin, Valdez Scandling

So what? Do they hand out Lombardi trophies to the team with the most WRs?

Yea I’m not sure how anyone could have listened to that interview and not feel that BB was defensive. And angry.

usually when people are like that - is because it’s true (BB/ bills under value WR) or feels like outsiders view him as not doing an overall good job as a GM / attacked

He's feeling like "wtf do I have to do besides win a super bowl to make this town happy?"

Yes. That’s the psychology of it. He thinks he’s doing a good enough job.  But it’s all about winning championships. To me. To most of the fanbase

I disagree. We invested our first pick last year on WR, we signed Palmer this year. We have Curtis Samuel and Khalil Shakir at WR. That is 4 players. At DT We have Oliver and a 3rd rd pick in Carter that couldn't get on the field last year and was a healthy scratch behind street FAs, that's it. DaQuon Jones is pretty much done, he's more likely to get cut than make the roster. So you're looking at a position that has 4 starters vs 1 that has a single starter. In that specific instance a 4th rounder at DT is absolutely able to be a difference-maker whereas a 4th rounder at WR would have to unseat one of 3 vets on substantial contracts or Coleman.

Your numbers are off. First of all, 5 WRs on the roster are going to contribute. Whereas just 4 DTs are going to be your primary rotation - we did after all only keep 4 on the roster last year. Oliver, DQ, Sanders, Ogunjobi, Carter gives us 5 so even accounting for Ogunjobi's suspension we already had the room filled out before adding Walker. Meanwhile at WR we have a PS player and a former bust competing for the #5 spot. So I just completely disagree with you that an extra DT has more potential to contribute than an extra WR.

Also, the important thing with WR is we are missing a specific skill set which is of course vertical traits. Beane himself has admitted this. We met with all of the vertical WRs in the class so he can't act shocked when people are concerned about the position, clearly he knew it was a problem but didn't make the necessary moves to fix it. I agree the DT room was weak heading into the class, but we at least had bodies that could fill whatever role we needed. As of right now we still do not have a vertical WR on the roster.

Jerry is a pompous ass.

He is, but I remember during the drought years looking forward to his columns in the Buffalo News (even if mostly everyone hated him). It's a far cry from what exists today

Wished Jeremy and Joe came back with

ok Brandon - if you’re so happy with the wr room. Why are you calling Beasley John brown out of retirement. And burning a 3rd round pick for old man cooper late in seasons ?

And that's the ugly side of this fanbase. The belief like their entitled to championships but the coach/gm/owner/whoever is denying them that.

You hit the nail on the head. In a weird twisted way, we love failure. We love to complain. We don't know what to do with ourselves when things are good, so we keep moving the goalposts and act like this is all still failure.

Maybe. I’m not sure we feel entitled. Scared more like it. We know this is as close as it may get. Josh Allen’s and Jim Kelly’s don’t come around but every 30 years.

so every little detail will be magnified

beane knows it. He just worsened the pressure today - he’s put Kincaid and Coleman and himself on the spotlight for having to come through.

I think Jerry is wrong. It is not McDermott's influence. It is Hurney and Gettleman's.

GM comes from team that undervalues drafting receivers and undervalues drafting receivers. More at 9.

Ha, only in the media's mind. There's no pressure on Beane. And anyone thinks it's time to clean house deserves the Bills having a 25-year playoff drought.
