So I know people don’t love McShay sometimes, but he loved the Bills draft and had a pretty interesting take.

He said the teams with quarterbacks like Josh Allen (Ravens, Eagles, Chiefs) should do everything they can to improve the defense because Josh can’t help on the defensive side of the ball. He was afraid the Bills would not stick to the strategy and he was happy that they did drafting defense early and often. I just thought it was a pretty interesting take when you typically hear guys talking about adding weapons around the QB.

I hope this exchange and the national coverage of it doesn't make Beane change any plans he had going forward.

Like he clearly set up the visit with Moore before the interview. I would hope that him taking an angry stance of "we don't need a WR" that has gone viral doesn't make him less likely to sign him or anyone else.

I don't think anything keeps Beane from doing what he thinks is the right move for the team. But you never know. Ego and the risk of looking like they were wrong or hypocritical can be a helluva thing to public people in power.

Samuel was arguably our best receiver in the playoffs.

based on one game really. not saying much.

He wasn't a serious outside #1 WR signing. really a gadget guy. Which seems to be a trend with Beane

Interesting reading through this thread and seeing a clear majority of TBD siding with Beane, even though some admit he could have handled it better...

The afternoon guys on WGR were trying to spin it the other way. They said Beane took the pressure off them to have to defend his Draft picks (they said that's what the day after the Draft always turns into) and that the fans were now turning on Beane and his Draft record. And I'm only paraphrasing a little there. That's basically what they said. I mean... Yes they had more than a few angry callers saying Beane was wasting Josh's prime years while collecting an MVP... But it seems to me most folks are OK with Beane, even though he could have been more diplomatic... B-)

Just out of curiosity, did anyone else at WGR have any opinions on the exchange on the morning show?

I think Palmer upgrades Cooper.  Shavers steps in for Hollins and likely is a bit of a downgrade.

Honest question, how is Palmer an upgrade over Cooper? Cooper had multiple 1,000 yard seasons and was coming off a 1,200 one with the corpses of Flacco, Watson, and DTR. Palmer averages 550 with one of the best qbs in the nfl.

I get believing in your guys but it was a valid criticism. Our WRs aren’t that good and it’s frustrating to not see more of an emphasis on going a better ones. Beane seemed cranky.

Cooper is falling off.  Saw it with us last year.  Palmer should benefit from our offense under Brady vs. Roman.

Offense had a few chances to win that game after the defense got stops. Our WRs couldn’t separate. There is not a receiver on our offense that defenses game plan for.

I might get this more if Palmer was playing with a bad qb. The Chargers were really pass happy before Harbaugh  and needed another option besides Allen. Palmer is kinda meh and never shown anything close to what Cooper has done. Coooer on reputation commands more respect from defenses.

I think Brady is a more receiver minded OC than Roman.  I’m also not as high on Herbert as some.

Beane laid the smackdown lol.

Sometimes you just have to do it.  I remember years ago Doug Marrone did something similar to these guys but BB just took it to a whole nother level 😂

Okay, now that we've cleared that up, do you still stand by this statement?

I'm gonna drop this dead horse.

Beane is gonna Beane, he doesn't value the position highly and that's just his philosophy.

Thank God for him he got Josh Allen....now if they could only get that DL right...one of these years they're bound to

Josh Allen had the ball with a chance to put his foot on KC throat in the playoffs. Last play Allen gets instant pressure throws a duck that dalton should have caught and he's saying the defense lost that game.

Acting like our offense is unstoppable is plain silly.

Imo we needed mike green!!

We had a chance to draft Dexter Lawrence the year we drafted Ed Oliver.

Landon Jackson looks like the next Chris Kelsey/AJ Epensa type that gets 90% of his sacks chasing down a qb trying to escape a strong push up the middle.

KC drafted jalen royals after we drafted Deon Walker and it already looks like a fail. Trade up for a DT with a bad back smh. Just like when beane traded up to get cody ford over Dk Metcalf. That was after trading Wyatt Teller for peanuts. Many more draft whiffs by McBeane. Josh Allen is their one saving grace

Don't really have faith in this coaching staff or FO anymore . They should be on the hot seat.

Roman was OC last year. Herbert has had a 5,000 and multiple 4,000 passing seasons. Could be overrated? Sure but there were plenty of opportunities to put up numbers and he was worse than Gabe Davis.

again, I get Beane’s frustration but it’s weird that he so aggressive about it because it’s a valid criticism. Samuel was an awful signing. Palmer has been pretty mid. Coleman had questions about separating coming and was literally invisible at the end of the season while Worthy, Ladd, BTJ were making monster plays. Obviously these guys can improve but there is a lot of evidence that besides Coleman, these are kinda average at best bet guys (love Shakir however).

that said, it’s probably the most exciting Buffalo radio moment in like 20 years so it’s a win win.

The Eagles set a postseason record for points scored last year.

Beane is going to be sensitive because he knows they won't have a strong prototypical X receiver for two years in a row. They'll make do and maybe even match last year's productivity, but the WR room isn't optimal.

It’s an interesting take but not one any of those teams have followed to the degree of the Bills. The Ravens have two first round WRs they drafted in the last 5 years, the Eagles spent first rounders and big contracts on Devonta Smith and AJ Brown and the chiefs spent a first on Worthy and seconds on Rice and Skyy Moore from 22-24 while having a HoF TE on roster.

I do agree the Bills had a pretty good draft tho.

Wonder how many extra possessions the Eagles defense gave their offense? Anybody know?

For all the "Bills need a #1 WR", how would you all feel if they went out and signed Bond?

Also, Allen did not take a beating last year waiting for things to uncover deep.

I swear remember Josh being totally banged up by the playoffs (Hand i think).

Plus if cook holds out (I think he will) that could really hamper us. I was praying for us to draft skattebo for insurance...

Our wrs weren't getting sepration from KC cbs. And Andy Reid out coaches McDermott everytime.  Its not really the players fault on defense.
