I believe it’s obvious

I think the narrative about receivers is because it wasn't addressed early however our first pick last year was a WR and our big signing this offseason was a WR.  The defense needs starting safetys

Ongoing conversation in another thread, but I'll just agree with those who are bewildered by Beane's lack of urgency on wide receivers. Mahomes has Rice, Hollywood Brown, Worthy, and now Royals. Burrow has two studs in Chase and Higgins. Hurts has DeVonta and AJ Brown. Allen? Shakir, who has never had a 1000 yard season, Coleman, a slow possession receiver who wasn't even catching jump balls late last year, Palmer, who is supposed to be the second coming of Jerry Rice but who the receiver-starved Chargers happily let go, Samuels, who we keep making excuses for, and a bunch of practice squad level players. Color me underwhelmed.

Meanwhile, he continues to dump--DUMP--resources into the defensive line. Lovely to have, what, four big investments in the DT position, but at the expense of mediocrity at another key position? Maybe he's planning to trade for Pickens or someone. But I doubt it. As others have said, he's probably thinking, "Hey, Allen and the running game did it all last year, so let's assume they'll be able to do the same again this year. What could go wrong?"

Let's watch Jalen Royals, whom he could have picked instead of Walker. I really, really hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling it's not going to be pretty.

The second coming of Rice?  Just stop with the hyperbole. Our offense looked really good last year and a day 3 pick is not likely to make it better.  Could it?  Maybe.  But having a big tub of goo helping to shore up run defense likely helps more overall.

On day 3 I imagine you have Beane and the coaches looking at their board.  And if considering a WR getting scouting input, Brady’s take on a guy and whether he adds to what we have, and so on.

A First round pick from last year who was doing okay until he got injured is already beyond hope, but a 4th rd pick who has yet to see an NFL field is the difference between the Super Bowl and another early exit?

Why are there two Safety slots in the poll?

When Rapp is the best player in a position group that is your weakest position.

The whole defense is in transition.  As many as 12 new players were added in the draft and free agency, headlined by Bosa, White, the two suspended DL, Hairston, Sanders and Jackson. Now add Carter, Ulofoshio (sp?), Solomon, Andreessen and Bishop and Beane has basically retooled nearly the entire defense.  Unless Hancock can become a starter, Beane has more work to do at Safety.

I have no problems with a tub of goo at DT; I just think a guy who can stretch the field on key downs and stop defenses from cheating up would be more valuable, giving the short passing game and runners more room. He doesn't (didn't) need to be a fantastic, just good enough to pose a threat downfield, so a potentially bigger return on that fourth-round pick than Walker.

I am urging all posters to have some fun with this poll and just vote offensive line, like I did, as QB is not an option.

Or it will be another super crazy, I despise Beane, loathe him, want to hit him over the head with proverbial sledge hammers thread.

Most would agree the Bills need a speedy wide receiver to blow the tops off the defense, but if you read Pete's last OP on WR it, not surprisingly, became what I say in the sentence above. This one will be more of the same, so let's call it for what it is, what it will be, before it gets too far.

The Bills had the best offense in the NFL last year, and one of the best of all time.  It was the most balanced offense ever, with 30 passing TDs and 30 rushing touchdowns, the 2nd most (1st?) in points per drive in NFL histrory--and Josh was the MVP of the league, like he was the year before (but just was not voted as such).

The wide receiver I want, and that so many others do, is simply the last piece in the almost perfect offensive puzzle that Beane and his coaches have put together, one developed diligently, with significant purpose and direction, each step of the way.  Possibly not getting that piece this off season cannot be a reason for any sensible folks to somehow then make the case that Beane blows it, and big time, when it comes to the Bills' offense.  Best in the NFL  last year, and the best the Bills have ever had--and that is saying a lot.

But the usual Beane haters are being more bold and loose with the facts than I have ever seen them previously--and that is saying a lot...saying Beane neglects the offense, does not give it the proper tools etcetera etcetera etcetera......

Yup, doing what so many find so distasteful in that small, but aggressive bunch of bashers.  But this time it is even more outrageous than ever, just spewing nonsense that cannot be supported, so is not, as their hate glasses won't let them see it any other way.

Beane hatred at its most obvious and its most unsupported in recent memory.

Ah, the straw man argument is not dead. Did I say or imply that Coleman is beyond all hope or that not picking Royals means an early playoff exit for the Bills? If you want to respond, respond to the points I made, not to fictions. Again, I'm saying Royals would have been a more valuable pick than Walker because Allen can't do it alone; meanwhile, they're stacked at DT. Do you disagree?

We lose in the playoffs because of our defense,  not because of our WR.

It made perfect sense for Beane to draft how he did.

We also led the league in scoring last season and we added Palmer,  and Coleman should be expected to improve on last season.
