I think the issue is that the call originated from an “in house” NFL “family member” and the potential optics of personal data breach.  The prank itself is secondary. It’s just a really, really bad look for the NFL. 
 

The shocking part is the kid outed himself online. He must be a real meathead.

Well done to Shedeur for taking the kid's call to apologise. 

 

If anything my level of respect for him went up this weekend. I don't think what happened to him was entirely fair and I think in the main he handled it well. 

 

EDIT: did you guys hear the Chase Lundt media call? Apparently he was prank called too. Some people need to grow the ***** up.

This really ticked me off - I thought it was incredibly mean spirited.

 

But, I'm inclined not to judge to harshly.  I wouldn't want to be judged by my worst stuff when I was in my 20's.

I thought Lundt thought the Bills were pranking him cuz when they drafted him he looked up at the board and thought to himself “WTF would the Bills be drafting me for with all those WRs still on the board?!?!”

Exactly!! He could've made it an epic prank but while it's a slightly big deal now, it won't be remembered in a couple weeks

It was completely of his (and his old man's) making.  It was predictable and therefore avoidable.  Every decision they made before the draft sealed his fate.
