Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?

In 1989 the Bills signed a soon to be 33 years old James Lofton. For those who weren’t born or are too young to remember, Lofton was the difference, the reason that offense was great. He opened up things for Reed. Defenses had to account for him. It is April, let’s see how it plays out. The Bills addressed their most glaring problem, the defense.

Many will be the same as above, "Oh yeah, you think this is so good, what about..." and then the hater will challenge Bills' fans to answer some of the most super negative, bizarre questions they can think up in their rage, one after another.  A clear pattern.

 

 

So if we don’t fall in line screaming the draft was “excellent and consequential” we are haters. If anybody is critical, we are haters. We should just give our front office eternal benefit of the doubt indefinitely or we are haters.
 

We have an MVP QB, playing in a Super Bowl is table steaks at this point as far as determining how successful our front office is. We have yet to play in a Super Bowl yet.

Maybe they can swing a deal for Jameson Williams or Alec Pierce. WGR has been talking about Pierce. He had 824 yards and 7 TDs on only 37 receptions!! That’s kind of insane. He would be a fine option to fill that role. Maybe you can trade some of your depth on the line or in the secondary? Would they do Epenesa and a 5th or something like that?

The best WR this team has seen under McD and Beane was brought in from a trade with Minnesota in Stephon Diggs. Last season, Beane made a move to help the WR corps with Amari Cooper. Cooper, while dealing with an injury all season, wasn't exactly the answer, although he did help others get open as he attracted much attention.

 

Cooper could still return to Buffalo healthy. And there is still the possibility that if this FO thinks that the receiver room is lacking, they will make another trade. 

 

Doesn't Curtis Samuel have a 4.31 40 time? Also, he suffered from turf toe in 2024, which can be a lingering injury. Besides, I kind of think that the new OC doesn't yet have a downfield game plan for a speedy WR/ Samuel. Again, he could also be helped with more time with Allen throwing to him. 

 

Against Arizona, 34 pts scored, Miami, 31. Jax 47, Ten 34, Sea 31, Mia 30, Kan 30, Indy 30, San Fran 35, Rams 42. Det 48, Jets 40. Then against Denver with the #5 defense 31-7. As others have stated, it wasn't the offense that lost us that KC playoff game. 

 

BTW, which NFL QB won the MVP award for 2024?

jesus.  This team has intentionally invested in a top 3 QB and a top 5 oline with a top 7 RB and top 10 TE duo

 

and don’t lump all WR together.  Shakir is a top 8 slot receiver.  The weakness is vertical boundary threats…. Which Brady has schemed out of this offense in a lot of ways.

I do think we’re still missing someone that gets separation from the outside. We lost that with Diggs and I just don’t see it on the roster currently. 
 

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a trade closer to training camp.

It’s unreasonable to argue that they aren’t “one of the worst.” They were no better than the 25th best group on Wednesday. They went through the draft and added 1 guy, the 28th WR selected. You can split hairs if they’re 32 or 29 or whatever but tough to make a case that they are better. Good thing we have Josh Allen

We haven’t played in a Super Bowl. Let’s not act like after how many years struggling to overcome the divisional round or AFC championship game, we make the Super Bowl and go one for one. We have a lot longer to go than most people call out here.

Buffalo saw more man to man coverage last season, because no one respects our WR.  We have had FA and the draft to correct that, and Beane has done Jack *****.

It’s the emperors new clothes.  We have yet to replace John Brown.  This offense needs a vertical component which it is sorely lacking.

Not worried about it. We have a very good O- line, top running game, and a QB who can make the most of the wideouts on the roster. 
Some of the teams who’ve put all their chips on speedy WR like the Dolphins have come up short in other areas because a disproportionate level of the cap is dedicated to three players. 
I think the Bills will be fine. I’m still anxious to see what a players like Shavers may have to offer.

that being said...the defense, special teams, poor time management,  and questionable coaching decisions, were the issue.

Actually had Pierce on my fantasy team at points last year! Non interest in Williams tbh

 

Dont know if Pierce is available, but he had some great stats last year. Didn’t really watch him.  Has one year left on his contract, so no control of that other then an extension.

Not sure what they can, or want to do. Would like to bolster the receiving corps by the start of the season.

This!  The 2024 offense set a franchise record for most points scored in a 13-4 season.

 

That last game against NE in a 16-23 loss kept the Pats from the #1 overall pick, which would have given them a windfall of draft picks like Cleveland got for the #2 overall. So, 14-3? 

 

Brandon Beane stated that they took BPA for the most part and that a WR, LBer simply didn't fall to them. 

 

As for that Houston game, my take is that Josh Allen hurt his hand somewhere in that Baltimore game, perhaps?  Allen went 9 of 30 for 131 yards...really, that bad? Worst game of his career.

But people here are complaining we didn’t get that on day 3 of the draft.  The kind of guy you’re describing is in the top 10 of day 1,  isn’t he?
