Hear me out.   Base 4-3 would be like this...

DL:

Groot  DE

Oliver  3T

Walker  1T

Jackson DE

Milano OLB. (Edited lol)

Hoecht ILB

Bernard OLB

For Big nickle Bosa takes Jackson's spot, and TJ Sanders takes over 1 tech.

It's realistic and against Baltimore I open in that 4-3.  Michael Hoecht is a guy we can put everywhere and heck he even covered DK Metcalf in the slot when he played for the Rams.

I guess my overall point is, after week 6 we finally have a ton of flexibility in how we play defense after FA and this draft.

Thoughts?  ( other than you might think I'm crazy 🤪)

Hoect is probably too large and doesn't cover well enough to be a base MIKE..  sure they tried making him cover a lot of people but it usually was not successful it's the weakest part of his game

It's gonna be Bernard at the Mike.. Dorian at the strong side and Milano at the weak side

You need to have sideline to sideline range to be a Mike... If I saw him there I would literally audible and throw right at him every single time.. he doesn't flip his hips good enough and run

He probably be a hybrid stand up , defensive end outside linebacker hybrid

I think typically a big nickel is pretty much a 4-3 alignment but with one linebacker switched out for a hybrid LB/safety.  Because Taron Johnson is so effective in run support, the Bills have not really felt the need to sub in a hybrid LB/safety.

Two Bernards is indeed innovative.

Some puzzlers in the OP imo:

1. Hoecht at MLB with Bernard freshly re-signed to play that same position?

2. 3rd round Rookie Jackson starting over a presumably healthy 30-year Joey Bosa on a one year prove-it deal?

3. Walker winning starting 1T?

4. The big nickel alignment includes only 4 DBs and 1 of the 3 LBs is Hoecht? That isn't just a standard 4-3 or really a 5-2 (as Hoecht will be classified as a DL)?

I like your passion and don't think you're crazy, maybe a little bit high but not crazy 😀

I think the only way Joey Bosa will come off the field is if he needs a breather or gets that nose stuck in his facemask by accident although that could happen have you seen that ***** thing?

I don't forsee any rookie coming in and winning the job outright other than possibly hairston but even that's a long shot since Tre is a veteran and knows the playbook like clock work already. I think possibly 1 of the DT's either T.J. Sanders or Deone Walker ends up beating out Daquan Jones as I've been very underwhelmed ever since he got injured unfortunately and will go as far to say he was a downright liability when he was in there (hence the massive upgrades in this draft at the position). I don't think Jackson has a shot to unseat Bosa but if he does it means we have a complete stud so either way bring it on but I think Bosa is going to be monumental for his development and all of these DL additions are going to be solid in rotation, this may be the best DL I've seen from the Bills that I've seen in quite a long time

I agree, this could be the best DL in a long time.  We should be able to bring pressure on a consistent basis with the depth we now have.

Agreed and we get fresh legs in week 7 with additions of Ogunjobi and Hoecht which will gives us several fronts for all different types of scenarios.
