Joe Marino Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM (edited) The secondary draftees will help for sure. The ultimate grade will all come down to how the linemen pan out.. For now, I gave it a B. Edited yesterday at 02:00 AM by Joe Marino 1 Quote
Doc Brown Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM Good - addressed our two glaring weaknesses in the playoffs (D-line and CB) Bad - me having to listen to Bills fans freak out that we don't have a vertical threat WR until September. 6 2 3 Quote
JJGauna Posted yesterday at 02:00 AM Posted yesterday at 02:00 AM A-. They had a plan and moved around and selected the players they wanted to transform the defense with. Would I of liked a new WR for Josh, sure, but these guys may be way more important. We can always find a WR before the season starts. Quote
Shaw66 Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM (edited) A- I'm editing my post and moving my grade to A-. People have the endless debate about whether to draft Best Player Available or Need. Beane has always said he's a BPA guy, and I believe him. He tends to trade up when the BPA also is a need. I think the draft fell to Beane perfectly, with BPAs sitting high on his board who also were need picks. I like the like the guys they got. It seems they got good value and solid athletic ability in the mold they're looking for. And I think the Bills like the guys they got. For it to be an A from me, they would have gotten an offensive skill player in second, third, or fourth. A credible receiver who might challenge for a spot. Prather seems like a project, if they can keep him on the practice squad. Doubtful he gets ahead of Shavers in the project category, and Shavers has a tough road to make the 53. Still, I'm happy. And, Beane has been masterful since the playoff loss. Extending guys who needed to be extended, really solid talent, adding some quality free agent talent, with the potential for a big win with Bosa and with guys who will fit in. And now this draft. It's really an impressive job that he's done. Edited yesterday at 02:55 AM by Shaw66 1 Quote
Wizard Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM For Doc Brown: The Bills did not get a true vertical threat in the draft! I see this as a problem now and in September. 1 1 1 Quote
Jimmy Harris 69 Posted yesterday at 02:06 AM Posted yesterday at 02:06 AM The cornerback draft will go down in Bills’ lore as one the best ever. I said once, I’ll say it again, Tre White doesn’t make this team. Jackson and Sanders will cause disruption when they get on the field. The only thing saving Dequan Jones are the PED boys. I like this draft. Way to go McBeane! Quote
FireChans Posted yesterday at 02:06 AM Posted yesterday at 02:06 AM I gave it a B. I think they addressed most of the major areas on defense. Disappointed in offensive investment. Hopeful that the defense will finally figured it out in the playoffs against the Chiefs. Silver lining that if the defense sucks again with an entire offseason dedicated to McD’s defense, maybe his seat will get warm. 1 2 Quote
SCBills Posted yesterday at 02:23 AM Posted yesterday at 02:23 AM (edited) It’s a monster Defensive Draft where Beane likely snaked a DT from both SF and then PHI by jumping them and taking Sanders & Walker. He read the board correctly both times. Love the double dip of Hairston and Strong. A playmaker corner and a perfect scheme fit guy. Landon Jackson is just a dude… high floor, high ceiling. Depth Safety/NCB to potentially beat out Cam Lewis. A+ grade for the Defensive side. On Offense, they probably asked Kromer who he liked at that spot and took him. Fine by me. Took arguably the best blocking TE in the Draft. Makes complete sense given the offense we run. Late flyer on a speed guy. Offense grade.. C- I don’t care what Beane says, or what fans try to convince themselves of. He knows, and we know, we need more at WR. A 7th Round throwaway pick to address that is the literal least he could do. A+ for the Defense and C- for the Offense = B+ Overall Edited yesterday at 02:26 AM by SCBills 6 Quote
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted yesterday at 02:28 AM Posted yesterday at 02:28 AM The one thing that surprised me a bit as we didn't take anyone, looking at the roster, the position group that to me is the thinnest is LB 1 4 Quote

Ethan in Cleveland Posted yesterday at 02:30 AM Posted yesterday at 02:30 AM B becomes an A if Hairston starts immediately. Everyone else important fills key rotations on the DL. SuperBowl or bust. Beane gave McD more than enough parts to fix the defense in FA and the draft. Quote
BullBuchanan Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM B to B+ They addressed the one starting hole on the team which was CB2. They then added 3 high upside prospects to our defensive line which should massively upgrade the unit as a whole. My pitch all along is that the team is 4 stars away from being able to win a Super Bowl and my hope is that they'll have those pieces following next year's draft. If two of the top 4 hit, which I think they can, we'll be well on our way. Next year we need 1, maybe 2 safeties, a running back (probably), and potentially a pass catcher unless one of Palmer, Kincaid, or Coleman turns into a legitimate stud. I was really hoping for Skattebo this year as his angry running would have been a great complement to Cook, but we'll probably need more of a #1 guy in front of Davis next season assuming Cook is gone. 2 Quote
Senth Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM Before this draft our defense was a C- after the draft we are a B. Quote
Johnnycage46 Posted yesterday at 02:44 AM Posted yesterday at 02:44 AM I for incomplete is the only correct answer. The draft ended like 5 hours ago. Quote
BullBuchanan Posted yesterday at 02:50 AM Posted yesterday at 02:50 AM 55 minutes ago, Brandon said: We won't know the final grades for at least a couple of years, but the preliminary grade I would give is a B+. I'm not a huge fan of effectively going all in on defense, but I can't argue with the value of the picks...Jackson, Strong and Hancock, in particular. The message of this draft is that they had everything they wanted and needed on offense. That's the only way I can interpret taking a blocking TE and competition type picks at OT and WR that will struggle to make the bottom of the roster 200+ picks in. And now, after Carter and Bishop last year, plus the three DL FAs this year and now this draft, the defense has everything it needs as well. No more excuses. This is the team they want. Their defense isn't set. They still need safeties. Hopefully Bishop becomes on of those guys. If not, they'll have to prioritize getting vets next year. Quote
