Success Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Our opponents have averaged over 33 points per game in our playoffs losses. Our offense is always going to score w/ Allen & a solid surrounding cast. We didn't need a round 3 receiver in a pretty middlin' receiver draft to move the needle there. But we need a defense that can shut teams down. I don't know how this draft will pan out - but I like the mindset, the strategy and the picks. In the 1st 4 rounds, every pick we got was expected to go before our pick by most pundits I saw, and they all bring something to the table that we haven't really had. I love this draft. Combined w/ our FA additions, it's hard to see this defense being any less than top 5 (and not just statistically). 4 4 2 2 Quote

Mister Defense Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) As I have been saying, before the draft and now, it was all about the defense, and in particular the "almost bare" outside corner situation, and the defensive line, in particular tackle. And that the Bills should get at least two high quality d tackles and at least 2 corners, but hopefully more. And that they should parlay all draft capital to make these the best players they can possibly get. As it should be all about quality now, and about giving up the over reliance on quantity , the just hoping some work out, with an over reliance on mediocre or less than that players. So, I am biased, as that was my opinion for over a month. I believe this was the best and most important draft in my lifetime, and I believe it will be a seminal moment in Bills' history, one of the most consequential. I was worried Beane would play it safe, and not put all of their eggs into the defensive basket, and not use their draft capital to consistently be aggressive. But he took a big swing. That is what one does when they are going for the gold. A prediction: Sadly, I bet McDermott breaks his face in the next few days from smiling and laughing so much. Bravo, Brandon. And to the many who worked so hard to make this all come together so well. Edited 8 hours ago by Mister Defense 4 1 2 1 Quote
Don Otreply Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Actually the offense that scores the most points wins championships, 1 1 1 Quote
Aussie Joe Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago The best thing Ive heard from any of the Bills picks is from Hairston … ”they are getting someone who is going to give Josh Allen the ball back “…. Give the MVP more opportunities to win the game ….they get the turnovers but also need the third down stops … 1 1 1 Quote

Or, the offense that scores the most wins the game, lol, it’s always how it works, when was the last time a defense out scored an offense?? lol, you’re killing me man 🤣 Just now, FLFan said: So does the defense that gives up fewer. It is and always will be the offense that scores the most points, this isn’t that complicated, lol, 🤣😁😆😂, it’s the defenses job to not suck, Quote

Einstein Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I agree. If we wanted a receiver we needed to take one in round 1 or 2. I think Matthew Golden is going to be good, but he went before we picked anyway. 2 1 Quote
DuckyBoys Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago What you mean is they have to get it right sooner or later Lot of capital poured into the defense in McBeane's tenure Quote

They have come up short to this point, despite best intentions. But you have to keep trying. I certainly like the picks - but we just won't know for a couple of years if they got it right this time. 1 Quote

K D Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Who did we get that's a difference maker? Looks like a bunch of depth and role players. Teams that win it all have stars and pro bowlers. We have Josh and who else? Don't say it's because of where we pick. Look at our draft vs the Ravens or Eagles. We need pro bowlers to move the needle 1 1 Quote

BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago We're trying to copy the Eagles format yet people forget before all the defensive draft picks they drafted WR Dovanta Smith and traded for stud WR AJ Brown. We don't even have anyone close to those 2 at WR, I agree defense wins championships but I also think you need a balance unless your defense is in the same mold as the 2000 Baltimore Ravens or along those lines. 1 1 1 Quote

Feels like we never get those types of players. It's pretty much Josh and then everybody else. Eagles are stacked by comparison, tons of stars, and isn't that who we are trying to beat if the goal is to win the Superbowl? Quote

L Ron Burgundy Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I feel like Beane drafts high floor low ceiling players. Likely, this draft will be the same. We need someone to break through on defense. We need a game wrecker. I don't think we got one though Hairston has a chance. Quote

For all their Pro Bowlers, how many times have the Ravens made the Super Bowl since they acquired Lamar Jackson? The same number of times as the Bills. They've made the AFCCC game only once -- and lost to the Chiefs. Just a few months ago, the talented Ravens lost to what you consider the "talentless" Bills in the Divisional round. There's more to building a team that wins the Super Bowl than simply accumulating talent. Both the Bills and Ravens are trying to get to the Super Bowl, and that road invariably goes through KC. If either team can beat KC, they will have a good shot at beating whomever they meet in the Super Bowl. Edited 6 hours ago by SoTier 1 Quote
