Because he was our first pick last year (unfortunately). We already gave Palmer starter money, and there is just no way the FO would bring in another starter, therefore diminishing Coleman’s ability to become a starter… If Coleman was a mid round pick, as he should have been, it would be a different story…The team would have no problem bringing in a guy to be the starter… But this is the reason you hear the team voice their disappointment in Coleman- yet do nothing about it…Its because he was their first pick… We really have one spot to fill from last year, Hollins. I think Shavers can step into that role 1 Quote

I mean - Josh Allen wasn’t exactly lighting it up year one. Hell - go take a look at Eric Moulds first two years, he would have been absolutely trashed by TBD. I still have hope Keon can take a step forward this year, as well as Kincaid. 2 Quote

I think Shavers can step into that role Also if there isn't.. anyone you really love at the spot to end the season (or say shavers gets hurt, and prather is absolute trash), there are a ton of cuts. End of the day you're replacing hollins ST contributions at WR5 - and some level of snap mix across Hollins, MVS, and Cooper. A lot of those snaps likely go to palmer, samuel, coleman, and shakir. Kincaid also only played 43% of snaps last year and was outsnapped by 3 different WRs. A couple of examples of potential cuts: Assuming NE carries 6 WRs - One or two of - Boutte, Bourne, Polk, Baker are likely to be cut. Houston - Berrios and Watson - one is likely available for a special teams player. I guess this just goes to set the point of... Is a WR selected in the 4th round more valuable THIS SEASON, than a veteran in similar number of offensive snaps? What is gained in those offensive snaps that's potentially lost in special teams contributions? Is a WR selected in the 4th round of 2025 more or less valuable than a 2025 vet, and a 2026 WR draft pick? Edited yesterday at 05:10 PM by Bleeding Bills Blue 2 Quote

Back then it was very rare for a WR to produce prior to year 3, luckily that is not the case any longer. That being said, I agree that Coleman (and Kincaid) still have plenty of upside left, and I believe they will both take significant steps forward this season. 1 2 Quote

I don’t think it’s that people are writing rookies off, but rather those rookies have not proven anything, and yet we are putting all our chips in that basket instead of bringing in competition for them. And like you said, there is hope….But I would think that if there is a player you aren’t sure of (and only have hope) that they would bring in competition, to either push him, or see who rises to the top…I think this was a mistake on Beane’s part- putting all your chips into the Coleman bucket…Because now, all we can do is HOPE that he is ready for a championship run….👍 Edited 23 hours ago by JaCrispy 1 Quote

Joey Galloway had a thousand yards as a rookie in 1995... Marvin Harrison had 800 yards as a rookie in 1996... In 1998 Randy Moss had a 1300 yd as a rookie Eric moulds did take a long time to turn up.. started very slow Edited 23 hours ago by Buffalo716 1 Quote
