BillsGuyInMalta Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 A TV station in Philly is reporting that a trade is in the works to send TO to Oakland for Jerry Porter. http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/sports/0630200...owenstrade.html Looks like Oakland will be losing all of their games this year 56 to 57. Even if this is just a rumor, they'll score a bunch of points and be able to stop no one. Fantasy owners will cream themselves when they play the Chiefs.
bartshan-83 Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 I think that would actually be a good trade for Philly if T.O. is really serious about sitting out. Porter can be a very good #1 and he won't have as much baggage.
The_Real Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 T.O and Moss on the same offense. Dude that's just scary. That's THE TWO BEST WR's in the GAME. Someone would always be open. Lamont Jordan is smiling right now I'll tell you that. Can you imagine how teams will have to game plan those two? Wow. t-r
Mark VI Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 Two A-holes ( T.O.,Moss) and only one ball. There's a joke in there somewhere.
Ramius Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 Man if the Eagles got porter they'd be scary...hes a great WR, i tihnk ready to be a #1...yah they'd still need some help at WR depth, but they'd be great... As for the raiders, theyd score 60 points in the first 2 games before moss and TO would be at each other throats...whoever wasnt leading the team in catches and TD's would B word non-stop...
Frez Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Kerry Collins and bombs away! What will Philly get in trade? How about TO for Travis Henry and Eric Moulds?
BillsGuyInMalta Posted July 1, 2005 Author Posted July 1, 2005 We play Oakland this year, correct? McGee better buy a rocket and strap that sucker on his back if he has to cover TO.

Even if this is just a rumor, they'll score a bunch of points and be able to stop no one. Fantasy owners will cream themselves when they play the Chiefs. 372308[/snapback] Let me get this straight: the Raiders are only $137,000 under the cap (worst in the league as of April 29 ESPN Linky ) and they want to sign a guy who's looking to be the highest paid WR in the game? Ol' Al Davis must be really getting senile to want to tie up 20% of this cap space at the WR position. Here's the Raiders Team Needs Needs Oakland has the skill positions covered, but their offensive line still has more holes than Robert Blake's alibi. Yet given the team's bleak salary cap situation, it's hard to imagine they'll have enough money to address this issue or any others via free agency. There is still a chance the Raiders will trade cornerback Charles Woodson to free up some salary cap space. Yet given that Moss has expressed his desire to play with Woodson, we expect team officials to avoid rocking the boat with Randy this early in the relationship. Oakland didn't finish last in rushing last season simply because their running back corps largely consisted of players that other teams gave up on. Quite simply, the offensive line is lousy. The addition of offensive tackle Robert Gallery in the first round of last year's draft was a nice start, but the Raiders still have a long way to go before this unit will be respectable. Finally, I think Jerry Porter's a terrific WR (remember how he killed the Bills a couple of years ago). They'd be nuts to give up on him: Porter's stats T.O.'s stats
IDBillzFan Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Two great receivers. Possibly two of the best in the business right now. Wouldn't want one of them on my team, let alone two of them. The only thing missing at his point is Warren Sapp dancing and skipping his way between the two of them on the sidelines. At that point all you'd need is Ryan Leaf at quarterback, a box of popcorn and a comfortable chair to make a sport out of that combo alone. Pass. Nonetheless, there's a reason why Oakland was selling more NFL merchandise than any other team...during their season immediately following their SB run. That was a pretty crappy year for them. But they sell stuff like crazy.
Coach Tuesday Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Won't happen. Raiders are about $700K under the cap. They just signed Porter to an extension. The cap hit/acceleration from trading Porter, plus the contract they'd have to give TO, would just make this impossible.
kasper13 Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I hope the Raiders get TO. I want to see just exactly how they will pay him the $10 or $11 million a season he wants being they are just $137,000 under the cap. Moss, Owens & one ball. There will be a knife fight between those two on the Raiders logo at midfield by Game 4.
