Or it shows that the Defense is playing with a lead and the QBs have take more risks.

That's what this Defense is

it is the Tampa 2 in Indy without as much speed.

get the lead, shorten games and if you force enough long drives you’ll get a few turnovers.

im ok embracing a lot of that but at some point we need to realize a star WR1 is something that helps that defense because it allows them to skew one dimensional

Yes, but now we're REALLY addressing it. No fooling this time.

Beane: “I’m addressing this defense so hard right now!”

McDermott:

So Hard GIF

The Tampa style defense feasts when you put teams in passing situations. When you don’t it gets crushed. I personally hate the scheme, hate it even more as teams started deliberately attacking the run last year to circumvent it. It’s not a playoff defense. It’s a scrub beater system.  It is a huge mistake by our fanbase to assume our schemes are the best fit for the current and future (next 4 years) NFL.

So uhhhh, Josh carrying the offense again this season

The difference between Josh carrying the offense this season or not wasn't going to be a 6th round pick. When was the last time a 6th round pick WR made a meaningful impact their rookie season? Has one ever? Antonio Brown (6th round) obviously became elite, but his rookie season was very meh. Puka Nacua had an incredible rookie season as a 5th round pick and Amon Ra St. Brown did as a 4th round pick, but it is incredibly rare.

I was pounding the table for Metcalf before it was cool.

Everybody starves this year

Besides drafting Coleman with their first pick last year, Kincaid with a 1st rounder the year before, signing Samuel last year, signing Palmer this year, having a top 5 o-line to protect him, and signing Palmer this year...... we have failed Josh Allen.

Given how the ginger eschews playing rookies , you're probably right

But they don’t sit rookies just because. See Benford. If one of these players steps up in camp, they will play significant time.

Why thank you for Mr Separation and Mr Catches Everything.  That solves all our WR issues

Coleman was the 9th WR selected. Palmer and Samuel are role players. Kincaid has been underwhelming. The OL is good. They absolutely haven’t dedicated anywhere near the resources to offense than defense. Use the draft value chart since 2017 and decipher points to offense vs. defense. It’s not even close. FA dollars too

LAMP: happy with this pick cuz my son goes to VT. Hope he pans out, it's fun to have an extra rooting interest in a player.

EDIT: double dip, drafted Kaden Prather from UMD where my other son just graduated.

Good times.

Does Hancock have ability at safety? I haven't read up too much on him yet. But yeah, cupboard was bare for sure. Tre and Dane one-year deals, they didn't bring back Rasul, definitely needed to add there.

I actually like the safety group. I think Rapp is kinda underrated. I think they're a better defense when he's out there. I don't mind Hamlin, great story obviously, but he whiffs on the run at times. Hopefully Bishop can become what they want him to be and seems like Forrest ain't bad.

Yeah…. Wondering if some DB picks are possibly being looked at as potential safety’s. … Seeing lots of whining on here but I think it just makes sense to try and build the D when your offense is already elite. …. FKIN GO BILLS *****

And taking a RB named Cook in the 2nd Round....the we don't help Josh is so over dramatized.

I hope this isn't a repeat of the last time we drafted a cb in the 1st and 6th rounds of the same draft

Actually, I would be ecstatic. I don’t care what order they are picked. If we come out of this draft with another Benford (or better, minus the injuries), I’d consider this a very successful draft.

I think the Bills have PTSD with all the injuries over the years...

Rightly so. We always go down to last CB. We need to be deeper and pray for good luck.

I had to look this up, but nobody cares that the Patriots drafted Adrian Klemm (G) in the second round of the 2000 draft when Brady was still on the board.

There are ways to measure it instead of just randomly throwing out players that fit the narrative we are trying to push. I did the exercise last year and it wasn’t close. Take every draft pick in the McDermott era (since 2017) and cross reference it vs. the draft value chart. You can use trades as well (ie apply points to the Diggs acquisition) and allocate the points from their picks to offense and defense. You’ll see that they’ve allocated WAY more to defense than offense. I don’t have the time or energy to do it again but if someone does, I think some will be floored at how much greater the investment has been in defense than offense.

I hear ya.  I guess I meant, I hope we don't have our 6th rounder out perform our 1st rounder.

We got our TE3.  LOL.  My expectations coming into this draft on offense was a TE3 and maybe an interior OL.  Our defense is what cost us a Super Bowl trip last year and we didn't lose any of our offensive starters from last year.  Maybe swap Palmer for Cooper.  No problem whatsoever with this draft.

It is indeed a huge makeover on defense both in FA and the draft.
Bosa, Hoecht, Ogunjobie, White, Jackson

and defense all the way in the draft plus re-signing their own in Benford, Bernard

I hope our DC has a plan

And yet the offense is the strength of this team despite these lower allocations. For every Brian Thomas vs Keon Carpenter I can show you Skyy Moore vs Khalil Shakir. We've been the 2nd best team in the league since got McDermott/Beane. Sorry I can't hate that production and it's not just Josh Allen.
