Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky

I really wanted him after watching his “highlights”.  I haven’t watch any real game tape on him-   Listening to actual analysts changed my mind.  That said- he has potential- hopefully playing with this stacked DL room will light the fire he needs.

But you can also make a few full shows on all the misses Joe has had as well... When you have to have as many opinions as he has to have, you end up being wrong a lot too... He was convinced Miami had one of the top 5 Rosters in the NFL before the 2024 season... So... 

 

Agreed. I really like Joe Marino and listen to his podcasts but, like every other draft analyst, scout, & GM, he's not infallible. He has plenty of misses. His is just one man's opinion and analysis. A good resource when trying to gather your own info and intel but not the be all end all.

Maybe.  If Jones shows in camp that he has taken another step back then maybe they move on from him this year, but I doubt it.  Walker is a developmental prospect.  I would be shocked if he is ready to play a primary role this year.  He needs a year of learning technique, the NFL game, and building his body the right way.

Nothing wrong with taking a low floor, high ceiling prospect on day three…that being said, there were a lot of guys on the board I would have preferred.

Just put him in on passing downs and get him up in the air to bat down passes.

Trying to just score and out-score is what lost them the previous SB against KC. They showed up this year and STOPPED Mahomes by pressuring him up the middle and every where else.

So this guy has zero athleticism (25" vertical wtf?) and just basically stands there and gets picked in the 4th round of the NFL? All you have to do is be 6'7" 340 and the NFL will draft you and you will be a millionaire? Crazy

He is literally two inches taller than Sanders.  I would be willing to bet that Sanders can get up higher than Walker without breaking a sweat.

Meh. I know Joe is a good guy and people like his analysis. But the main thing that's missing from any draft analysts reports are what position coaches have to say and what they think they can do with these players. 

 

None of these analysts have a DL coach breaking down film with them where the analyst can be like, "Well, he does this too much so I don't like him" and a coach can say, "That's not a big deal, we can help him fix that."

 

So, that's why I really don't get attached to any prospects in the draft. When Beane doesn't take someone's special guy they lose their marbles. 

 

I'd rather wait and see what the plans are and how the team plans to utilize these players. 

 

Based on what I've read on Walker it sounds like he could be one of those guys that projects to be a much better pro than he was in college. We'll let him get coached up by a pro staff and see how he does.

That’s not what they did, the pressure made Mahomes look pedestrian. Eagles defense won that game.

I dont see Walker taking the top spot from Jones, but someone else on the roster can and then that makes room at the bottom for Walker.

The Eagles have probably the best talent evaluators in the NFL. Our staff watched a QB competition between the best player in Bills history and the worst player in franchise history, and deemed the latter as the guy who should start.
