Why?  Another blocking TE?  Dear God...

McDermott wants a run-first offense. Even though he has the league MVP at QB who also happens to have probably the strongest arm ever, we need to run and play Cover 2 defense. That's how you get close to the Super Bowl.

Have you? It's is extremely unlikely that 5th round rookie unseats any of the top 4. This is your emotions running amuck because you want a WR so you want them to select one regardless of the likelihood of success.

I beileve a WR can come in and unseat Josh Palmer or Curtis Samuel, neither are household names. It may be unlikely but I'd definitely take a chance on one.

Brugler's summary..

also I know this guy is a blocking specialist but if he ever gets loose and scores, Chris Brown can say Jackson took one to the HAWSE.

SUMMARY: A one-year starter at Georgia Tech, Hawes was an inline tight end in ofensive coordinator Buster Faulkner's run-heavy scheme (65.0 percent of snaps inline, 28.3 percent in the slot). He spent five years at Yale and picked up an Ivy League degree before spending his final college season with the Yellow Jackets in 2024. His performance at Georgia Tech earned him draftable grades from NFL teams. As a pass catcher, Hawes tracks and catches the ball well, but he wasn't a high-volume target in college — that is reflected in his inefcient route running and choppy attempts to separate at the stem. Where he shines is as a versatile, throwback blocker who can dig out defenders and stay between his target and the football.

Overall, Hawes is a one-speed athlete and has a low ceiling as a passing target, but his functional athleticism, technical approach and competitive attitude should be enough to keep him on an NFL roster. He is a classic Y tight end prospect.

An average level athlete blocking tight end. It is offense. But barely.

I mean if it was a OT it'd be offense so it's definitely still offense even if it's maybe not much of a weapon.

Crazy they see TE as a need over S, WR and LB.

Kincaid, Knox, Davidson and Gilliam but let’s draft another TE that realistically isn’t making the roster.

They drafted a S. That CB they took from OSU played S in college and projects to play there in the NFL.

Ok. A TE3 before S or WR. It's official. The Bills feel those rooms are set.

I'm willing to bet they already have some verbal agreement with a WR to have bypassed the position. Kind of like they did with Lataviius Murray a couple years back

lets hope

Boom

I find it very interesting as well that these allegations were reported on April 10. Somebody has a vendetta against this kid. Innocent until proven guilty and the dude can fly I’m taking him I don’t care we need speed.

I really hope so. Otherwise it's a case of what are they playing at.

If he makes the team get ready for, Did you know this kid played at Yale?

Bet he didn’t walk on like Mike McDaniel. In that case, he sucks because I heard here walking on at Yale is REALLY HARD.

Still holding out hope we can get 2 of the following, come on Beane, the blocking TE really bummed me out:

1. Bond
2. Tez Johnson

3. Restrepo

4. Badger

5. McCoy

Maybe Tez or Badger as they do returns on teams

I think Teams are all wearing shirts today in rememberance of a colts coach wife who recently died of cancer.

Don't hate Gunner he's going to have a role in this offense this year, he'll be on the 53 and he's a physical football player in the run game.

Oh I agree. It was slightly tongue in cheek. It is a sensible pick. As was Hancock. In and of themselves, no issue with it. If Walker had been Royals or Horton I'd be ecstatic right now.

Brugler fails to mention that he was a transfer to Georgia Tech. He was a multi year starter at Yale before transferring to Georgia Tech so you know this dude is smart as hell. Smart and tough football player late in the 5th.

And we aren't going to be top 3 or whatever in offense this year.  Teams know how to attack our offense that has no speed after watching it  last year.

This is my BIG worry if we don't add speed somehow. To think Josh is going to be at that level again is asking a lot, even for a unicorn like him.
