Would’ve been a solid pick at 62.  Likely took the same guy we would’ve taken.  Diminishing any value we may have lost in the trade up.  Basically gave up a 4th to move up 15 spots (iirc).  Not bad

My thoughts too. As the first round was progressing, I said Amos, Sanders, and then Jackson without moving around. But it played out just fine. I knew Jackson was in play when he said he talked to the Bills 'like 8 times'.

Don’t forget the midnight oil beds are burning guy!

Good eye mate:

Apart from being Midnight Oil’s voice, he was once Australia’s Minister of Environment, or something like that. Their version of Secretary of Agriculture or EPA chair.
Apparently, he couldn’t sleep.

Half-serious question, does the lack of body hair make his 40 time better?

I'm fine with this pick. Seems like decent value all things considered.

It makes him more likely to get concussions.

This kid is going to be great imo. I was at the Alabama vs. Arkansas in 2023 and Jasckson was unstoppable. I have no idea how or why he lasted this long. I would have been perfectly happy if we took him in the second round, if not round one.

Check out these game stats......

I was just looking at the TSW 1.0 mock, and now I understand why you were so high on him and took him in R1.

Here's to another year without offensive playmakers! Cheers!

You are not really wrong.... but this draft was more a complimentary pieces draft than a playmaker draft on offense. The year to be annoyed at them under prioritising offensive playmakers was last year. This draft was always a defensive line draft and I don't blame them for following the board there. It is where the value is.

So the guy on ESPN began saying he plays with his hair on fire,  but stopped after hair.  That was embarrassing 😳

Well, that’s ESPN for you!

I am also slightly surprised he lasted as long as he did. When the Lions traded up in the 2nd round I felt absolutely sure it was for Jackson. They picked another guy I think you took in a mock.... Tate Ratledge - I'm less high on him and he was a reach IMO.

However, part of it is scheme fit. Projecting Jackson to NFL defenses is tricky. I don't think he has the bend or speed to play primarily as a stand up rusher in a 3-4 or as a wide 9 rusher in a 4-3, and I don't think his leverage in the run game is good enough consistently to be a 4i defensive end in a 3-4 front. So you end up looking at him as primarily a 5 tech in a 4-3 defense that utilises bigger ends in more tight alignments and that does narrow the field significantly..... Buffalo, Detroit, San Fran, New Orleans, possibly Washington... there are probably a couple more that aren't springing to mind but it is likely fewer than 10.

The other factor is consistency. You have to ask yourself how does a guy who DOMINATED to the extent he did in that Alabama game have only 9.5 sacks in the 23 other games he started over the past two years.

But I like the pick. I think it was excellent value where the Bills made it, he fits our defense and I think there is still some untapped potential there for sure. He is only just turned 22. I'm not sure he is at his ceiling yet.

He is  still very young, plenty of time for some bigger and more descriptive tattoos

Well... Jackson was definitely one of my more favorite prospects throughout this process... You just have to believe in the projection because he played something like 70% of his snaps at 4I in College and he's a linear athlete... But he's a hell of an athlete.

He turned 22 this past January... The 9.78 RAS speaks for itself.

Jackson is about as Billsy as it gets. Team Captain... Tall and athletic DE...

I think the Bills Defense got a lot better these past two nights... It's all on paper right now, but I'm going to go ahead and tip my hat to Beane... He picked at 30, 41 and 72 and got the number 26, 30, and 48 players on my personal board... I absolutely destroyed the Bills Defense throughout the year last year. Their 3rd Down Defense gave me such agita last year during games I worried about being insufferable on Game Day threads. I went back and looked at texts I sent my Nephew complaining during games with statements like "we're SO slow on D"... "we're just not athletic enough..."...and so on... We added 9.78, 9.63, and 9.38 RAS athletes to that Defense the past 2 days... That really means something to me. And yes they are good football players.

To be honest right now I can't imagine I could have been much happier with the 1st three picks in total. Nice mix...good players...outstanding athletes...good locker room fits... I like it... And I think all three have sizable upside.

The proof is always in the play but the Bills are better on paper. If this D-line comes together the Bills have the opportunity to be a shutdown d that ballhawks. Benford is a top 5 CB and Hairston has the ingredients to also be special. I suspect safety play will also improve for the Bills this year.  Let’s hope this comes together.

DL desperately needed re vamping , and now have 5 new faces - Bosa , Ogunjobi, Hoecht, and the 2 rooks that'll be in that rotation, after week 6 unfortunately but I love the additions and they'll likely add a 1T today.

Lot of competition and youth added.

Thornton is still out there 😎

Royal too - would be thrilled with either. Bond would be a steal at this point too if Buffalo believes his denial. With 7 picks today, would love to see Beane trade up right away from 132 and grab royal

That boy looks stronger than train smoke, but he might need some more counters if he's going to be effective as a pass rusher.

Totally agree. If I'm a OT in the SEC I'm playing the outside move until he proves he can counter. Seems like he has enough athletic ability to add those moves so hopefully he can. I thought I heard on the broadcast he was around 280 now, so maybe adding a few pounds and talking to Bruce about his spin move will up his passrush game.

Well, his bed was on fire, so...

Anyway, the one cut-up vs Will Campbell shows Jackson trying the same rush move over and over and over even after it got figured out. You can be Nolan Ryan but you still need a curveball so they can't just sit on the one thing. Hope the coaches can give him a couple counters to mix in.
