Jackson was my 10th best available when we turned the card in and at least Revel (injury) and Bond (character) ranked above him were there because of not football reasons. So far Beane has taken my 8th BPA (Hairston); 7th BPA (Sanders); and 10th BPA (Jackson) and in each case there were 2 or 3 guys above them who were sliding because of injury or character issues. So at least from my perspective so far the Bills have been in the ballpark in terms of following the board.

Lol the comments on Twitter about not going after WR - in a draft everyone acknowledges is weak at WR.

Kyle Williams?  Don’t care

Noel?  Don’t care

Luther Burton?  Don’t care

The league is usually right - if those guys are legit they don’t drop out of the top - 60

No Nate   They are bigger reaches then TJ Sanders

Oh is the league usually right? 🙄…Why did “the leagues” Packers and “the leagues” Texans just draft their franchise QBs multiple WRs ALREADY in a “weak” WR draft.

We draft like we know Josh Allen will win us games no matter who we throw out there and then our FO and coaching pretend to care by stating we don’t want Josh to have to be Superman that’s why we made this one move per season for some retread WR

And just to add to this in the context of the wide receiver debate I can see is raging.... and I get it the Bills have under invested in receiver over the past 5 years and I have been as critical of that as anyone... but in this draft in particular the way it fell.

At #30 I had ZERO wide receivers on the board graded higher than Hairston

At #41 I had ZERO wide receivers on the board graded higher than Sanders

At #72 I had ONE wide receiver on the board graded higher than Jackson and that guy is currently on bail in regards to sexual assault allegations against him

The Bills have not ignored or passed over receivers in this draft. They'd have been reaching if they'd gone receiver at any of those spots.

Yup. Shazier and Dobbs. Same condition.

Fantastic explanation GB. I agree. Beane is taking best player available at position of need, rather than picking the position of need first, and then taking the best player in that position category.  I see the strategy, and I like it.

I understand the desire for a big, 1-tech to keep our small LBs clean and able to fly around. But the idea that we cant wait until waaaaay late in the draft to find some tub of lard who just has to stand there and take up space/blockers is ridiculous.

Spend these valuable picks on athletes with skill. Take the fat guy later.

Beane paid attention to what the Eagles did to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.  Penetrate the line on multiple fronts and totally disrupt the Offense.

(unfortunately the Chiefs paid attention too. they are building their O-Line and pass rush, to face Josh)

One thing about both the Jackson and Sanders picks is that they hint that the Bills are still high on Carter and Solomon.  The Sanders pick allows Carter to shift to the one.   Jackson is an upgrade over AJE which implies they like Solomon’s motor off the edge as Bosa’s backup.

Essentially the depth on the DL looks like:

Solomon backing up Bosa and Rousseau.

Jackson backing up (maybe even beating out) AJE

Carter backing up Jones

Sanders backing up Oliver

We’ll see where Lodge fits during camp and how Hoecht and Ogunjobi fit when they return from suspension.

Greg Cosell, NFL film guru:

I'm always leery of making comparisons because that's all people remember... he kind of reminded me a little of when I watched Max Crosby coming out of college," said Cosell.

Crosby, the No. 106 overall selection in 2019, has developed into a perennial Pro Bowler

I heard Cosell say this, tried to store it so I remembered it, but did not.

As NO one's opinion do I value more.

YES!

Thank you for posting this.

Man! That is an incredible DL rotation.  Honestly, one of the most versatile in the league. There are so many possible combinations. This is going to be fun.

I'm actually from Arkansas and have watched this kid every game, this kid gives a 100% on every down he's on the field. he played against the best of the best of the SEC week end and week out and held his own. Bills mafia will love this kid.

I wasn't initially thrilled with this pick, likened him to AJE 2.0 in the draft thread.    But after googling AJE 40 time it was in the 5s.   This guy I about 4.68.     D will be faster.

Every write up on sanders I’ve seen is he’s a beast against the run lol I’m still so confused by the narrative here

It is like the running backs are a dime a dozen cliche held so dearly by a bunch of Bills' fans.

They have been told, again, by analysts that the only way to have a great run defense is to have mountains of men, so they simply believe it, and as gospel.

Even if the Bills return to having one of the best run defenses in the NFL soon because of players like this, it won't matter, as they will still see believe what they have been told--no matter what, no matter what is right in front of their eyes telling them differently.   (See: James Cook)

Love this pick.  Got a motor and upside.

He'll be replacing AJ soon and should be a slight upgrade.  Daniel Jeremiah had him in his top 50.  Said Bills got great value.
