Imagine thinking Cleveland outsmarted the rest of the league

Maybe you should team up with Mel Kiper, since his takes are as good as yours😆

I think the downside is just how to manage and properly evaluate that QB room now. I don’t think anyone would have questioned the Browns if they took Sanders early in this draft. But the way it played out and now having two mid to late round rookies, two vets, and the Watson disaster all there just creates higher risk of a throw away season this year.

Higher risk? No. Not at all. The risk of a throwaway season was high before those two draft picks were made and it’s high now. But it isn’t any higher than it was.

Nothing better could happen for Cle than have a throw away season.  They are in full rebuild and can’t really do it properly for this season or next with Watson massive franchise killing contract.  If they cut Watson next year it’s over 100m cap hit.  If they don’t cut him he costs around 75m cap hit still and like nearly $30M again in 2027.

So might as well suck this year and get max value in your draft picks next year to set your franchise up for life after Watson in 2027 and beyond

Yep. They look to get about $44M back in cash and cap space from insurance next season. That will reduce the pain, but not come close to eliminating it. Still lots of cap consequences to bear from the Watson debacle.

Get real dude. This move is beyond dumb. The browns draft is a disaster and it started with the move to trade out of two on thursday

They gave up the best athlete in the draft to get another 1st next year, presumably to get a Qb next year. Take a DT, a RB when they have Chubb and now have doubled down on backup QBs. So now, they have a backup QB battle behind Joe Flacco and Pickett. (Are they going to carry 4qbs?) Best case scenario, the 3rd or 5th round QB works out and you can surround them with talent next year, worst case they end up taking a QB high next year, then have wasted two mid round picks this year to cut one next year

Browns gonna brown

Chubb is a free agent. The Browns offered him, but he didn’t take it. Not sure if he will retire or not. He has made a lot of money, but isn’t going to make much going forward - and his body has been through a lot. My bet is retirement or signing for cheap with a team that can compete for a SB.

Sadly, Chubb will never be the same. They had to go get a RB.

Like I wrote earlier, the Gabriel QB pick was dumb, it's a reach.

They had a solid draft. #1 IDL prospect, a blue chip RB in Judkins, a good MLB.

Februarys off every year guaranteed! Lets dance

Hope that’s genuine and not trying to cover the embarrassment of an historic slide. He’s also going to an overfilled QB room in the most disjointed organization outside of the giants.

This can only end in Canton, right?

Mel Kiper knows more than every GM in the league combined apparently.

The guy who banged the table for Jimmy Clausen is saying that NFL gms haven't had a clue about evaluating quarterbacks for fifty years.  Just top notch material there.

Forgot about Clausen.  Said he'd retire if he was a bust.  Wish he would've.
