It’s not like teams are just running to run out the clock. They’re running to keep the ball away from our offense and to control the game. This isn’t a result of correlation at all. It’s how teams attack us and have been doing so for years. It just doesn’t matter that much when we have a 20 point lead. Huh? Just bar napkin remembering, we got blown out in Ravens1 last season. We were also down double digits for what feels like the entire Bengals 2022 divisional round We only lost one game by 7+ is just completely wrong lol. Not to mention a couple of those games the Bills were down two scores, scored at the end to make it seem a bit closer and lost anyway. Listen, I don’t want to say “run defense means nothing,” but some of our worst offensive performances are at the top of that list. That contributed to losing too. ESPECIALLY on the turnover side of things, which is also super strongly correlated to losses. Baltimore is in the top 10 of that chart like 3 times and has a 1-2 record vs the Bills. Do we think that has anything to do with the fact they are constantly one of the top rushing teams in the NFL? Edited Saturday at 04:59 PM by FireChans Quote

I can think of one time a player drafted by Beane led the team in sacks. They draft DE's for their run stopping ability and DT's for their pass rushing ability. We end up with DE's who get 7 or 8 sacks and DT's who get 5 sacks and we hold our breath against teams that run the ball well. It's the system we run. Oliver is a great 3 tech. Sanders looks like he'll be a good 3 tech. Same with the other DT's. Problem is habitually our "plan" for stopping the run is perfect execution on every play and keeping Zion Logue on the practice squad and calling him up a few times a year. If Sanders turns out to be a great pass rusher it will be a win over Carter and if he can sure up the run that will be a bonus. I think more than a few of Us sit on the side of the fence that says tweaking the Defense up front with big dudes who don't get moved would free up our speedy read and react LBs. Allow CBs to play more press off the snap I don't feel McBeanes sees it my way lol Draft aint over nor FA and players shaking free later to fill some needs left though. 2 1 Quote
JoeF Posted Saturday at 05:03 PM Posted Saturday at 05:03 PM Put on 8 lbs between the combine on Pro Day (297 to 305) - Still ran a 4.95 40 at 305 lbs. He was a talented hoop kid averaging 18 PPG and 12 RPG as a junior - did not play HS Football until his junior year. 1 2 Quote

Like teams with big leads run the football a lot. Correlation doesn’t equal causation. Every team is going to have a similar chart. Because a lot of teams losses will also be games they get run on a lot. Those stats are all context. Like so much of statistics. Quote
billieve420 Posted Saturday at 05:45 PM Posted Saturday at 05:45 PM Coming around on the pick. Him and Oliver rushing from the inside on obvious passing downs could wreck havoc together. 3 1 1 Quote

You know you can’t trust Beane for an entire draft- and especially when it comes to D line…😉 Ive come around on this pick but Deon walker was THE NUMBER ONE pick that Joe Marino didnt want 🙈🙈🙉🙉🙊🙊 1 1 Quote

I mean, their first pick was at 30 and they took Hairston, so they were trying to get him before they got Hairston. Just a weird comment. Quote

Big SOB. 15 to 20 snaps can he be a problem? Will be able to learn from Jones. I like what Buffalo did up front. 1 Quote

The Lions had a top 2 Offensive line last season and Oliver took over that game. Yeah Ed’s had some bad or subpar games too but that’s dam near every single defensive player 1 Quote
