Something similar happened to his dad.  Back in the day, I remember saying that Deon was the 2nd most exciting rookie named Sanders.

1. We moved up 15 spots from 56 to 41

2. We moved down 10 spots from 62 to 72.

 

We lost one of our two fourths and got pick 240.

 

That's not egregious at all to go up 15 spots. We only move down 10 with our second 2nd-rounder.

 

The Rich Hill charts says the Bills give 212 points and get 210 back. It's fairly even.

56&62&109 for 41&72&240.  Basically they moved up 15 spots from 56, moved back 10 spots from 62 and traded 109 for 240.  That isn’t egregious in my opinion.

I also said in our draft special and earlier today on this board that we would take a 3T in the 2nd round and not a fatty. We will use one of those 5ths on a Nose. I think 72 can be an edge or a WR.

And gained a second round pick. So the Bills lost one second round pick and gained a third, with a ten position difference.

Basically, Daquan goes in to get roasted, then they bring in smaller pass rushers to give him a breather.  We're now forced into BAP at DT real soon.

We gave them 2 2nds and got a 2nd.  

 

2-1=1

 

We gave them the chance to draft 2 players and we got 1 player back in this round.  How is that a net -2 players?

not it didn't "cost" that. It is cost that is the wrong word. It "cost" a 2nd and then additional draft value commensurate to a late 3rd (54 point difference between #62 and #72 and then 75 points between #109 and their 7th).

Almost every trade Beane has made draft-pick for draft-pick has been a very close track on the Rick Hill chart, within a couple points. It's not like Jason Botterill giving up the first pick of the 6th round to a division winner for a 6th rounder next year.

The 49ers could and maybe would have gone for him over Collins at 43.

He will be drafted that's all that matters in the end.  Its a bad beat right now for sure.
