Gregg Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago I wonder if the NBA will stop playing games on Christmas since their ratings will take a major hit trying to compete with America's most popular sport. 1 Quote
chongli Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Also from the linked article: "The Chiefs played on Christmas the last two years and expressed interest in being a fixture on the holiday, but North said that the league is unlikelyto have a permanent Christmas team. Goodell concurred by saying "I think we'll continue to rotate" the teams that play that day." Quote

BillsPride12 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Knew this was coming...nothing shocking here Quote
Gregg Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago I just hope the Bills aren't one of the teams playing on Christmas but there is a good chance they will be. I am guessing the Bills will get the max allowed for primetime games which is either 5 or 6. Quote
Logic Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Gross. Greed greed greed. NFL owners are Icarus. They always have been, and always will be, and they won't stop until they've over-saturated the market, watered down the product, and imperiled player safety to the point that the quality of the league declines and, with it, fan interest. But anything for a buck, right? 1 1 Quote
Gregg Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Just now, shane nelson said: Please not be us Agree but it very well could be. Coming off a 13-win season and a trip to the AFCCG. Allen is one the most popular players in the league and fans love watching him play. You know the Bills will get a lot of primetime games, so Christmas is a very real possibility. Quote

But anything for a buck, right? Have to admit, I'm out of the loop of sorts as I'm not part of the home market, but I don't think three Christmas Day games is as bad as the ever extending number of games being played abroad. Selfishly, having the usual Christmas Day meal and games followed by back to back games from 6pm UK time, is quite good. Similar to Thanksgiving. Quote
ControllerOfPlanetX Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Perfect for my Christmas meal of Sloppy Joes and Scotch while sitting in front of the TV. 1 Quote

Whites Bay Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago A few points that will probably irritate some. Sorry to come across as some sort of NFL tool, but football on Christmas works very well for myself and my extended family. We - as a group - only get together a couple of times a year, and one of these windows is Christmas Day. The kids are all grown now, and our the whole extended tribe are huge Bills fans (first) and NFL fans (second). Fire in the woodstove, glasses clinking in toasts, turkey coming out of the oven; having a football game on in the background is perfect. Trust me - we've tried having the NBA on in the background...something to soak up the alcohol during a pause in conversation. Who WATCHES that stuff? Yes, it's greedy on the part of the NFL (candidly, it was/is greedy on the part of the NBA). And, no, I frankly don't give a damn about ruining the players' Christmas - even if the Bills are on TV. (In fact, ESPECIALLY if the Bills are on TV). They're young healthy men who get to take a break from reality and make a lot of money for a few years playing a game for our entertainment. A LOT of money. Again, I don't get the hand-wringing. "It's all about money". Correct. And the sun comes up in the east. Works for me. Quote

How cringeworthy was it when they made an announcement in the middle of the draft for the date of the schedule release I personally hate the direction the NFL has gone in recent years. It feels more and more cartoonish every passing season Quote
