I kind of like the FSU tackle Farmer. He's not as big as Collins but he's long and seems to have some tools as a rusher. This pick would depend on how Bills view Carter. I assume Alexander will be long gone by the time we pick.

I like Collins too. But while being a great run stuffer, he provides little to nothing in terms of Pass Rush. And Beane generally doesn't go for big space eaters who can't Pass Rush.

 

My gut is he prefers Joshua Farmer and I almost expect him to be one of the pics. But I'd be happy to be wrong and he takes Collins if he's there.

Just remember, it's still McDermott's D. The point is that we could get 2 x studs back there, and the end result doesn't change the way he calls a game. I'm not saying it's ENTIRELY pointless, it's just the move least likely to help this team take a big step forward. I don't think having 2 great safeties back there will turn the tides against the Chiefs.

 

I'd rather double down on our biggest strength - Josh Allen. The side of the ball most likely to see changes year-to-year is offense, so give Joe Brady more tools to help Josh succeed. McDermott & Beane are good at finding defensive talent in the later rounds anyway.

 

That's how I see it. We should be planning like we need to score 30+ in most playoff games to win...because we probably do. I'd like to see more weaponry added on offense.

I like the prospect but is he a good fit next to Oliver? Fairly undersized at 295.  Im kinda in the boat of BPA between DT/DE with our earlier 2nd rder, open to the right WR too, as I think those are going to be where are biggest difference makers will come from

I think Sanders would be a designated pass rush DT this year and hopefully get a little bigger by 2026.  That can still be very valuable and worth a late 2nd (imho).

3 things this team needs:

1. Speed

2. Pass rush

3. Size up front

 

 

We at least tried to upgrade the pass rush with : Bosa, Hoecht, and Oji --- even if we need to wait to see all 3 on the field together.

 

The biggest monkey wrench are the suspensions, and how Beane wants to stack those rooms, knowing we have 2 top backups coming back early in season.

 

I think we absolutely should be looking to move up into the 3rd (by trading 2 4ths).  

 

WR, DE, DT (or S).... in no order, would have most impact.  I'm all for adding a 1st or 2nd round skill guy each year, along with pass rusher.  Makes sense to go WR/DE in the 2nd- plenty of options that we've met with are still there.

Burden is a younger Curtis Samuel to me.  Would be interesting, really like his YAC and playmaking ability

Lol.  I think that's partly true.  Missouri moved him all over the formation, but he is a bit of Toney/Samuel (some day Deebo, or Curtis)/Percy Harvin.

 

I think he's a much better downfield threat than Curtis.  Just makes Samuel even more redundant again...we will see.  I think another 6 2"+ is going to be what we target...options there that we met with

I also want Burden III. But there's a number of issues there:

 

1.) He's not a speedy WR and I think they want speed.

 

2.) If he falls to a spot where we can pick him, that probably means that the concerns with his practice/work ethic and his inner circle (reportedly his mom is "a problem" and his girlfriend is his manager) are real. In which case, they'd probably pass.

 

3.) Those things aren't real concerns, in which case they'd have to trade up quite a bit in Round 2 for him and I don't see them doing that for a WR. 

 

Though, like my thoughts on Collins' fit, I'd love to be wrong here too.

Im just not a fan of going after a run stuffer with limited pass rush ability this early. Seems like something you can get later in the draft or on the cheap in FA.

2d round is not a reach.  Every year there is a run on WR in round 2 and I think Williams will be part of that run.  He’s now projected to go in round 2.  I’m pretty sure he won’t make it to round 4.

Then our 5th and 6th rounders can do more to move around a little. I have little faith and I think last night was 50% a pride pick in that McBeane wanted to prove themselves that the Elam pick wasn't poor evaluation, selection, but just a weird fate.

Look at Philly's Defense and where those guys were drafted. That's what separates champs from the rest.

Genuinely asking, whats your plan with the extra picks?  I think thats what makes it hard to evaluate a move like this... then on top of this, youre telegraphing your plan to move up multiple times, bc what the heck is a team like ours going to do with 11 draft picks. Im not against it, 3 picks in 2nd round would be awesome, 5 in the top 100.  Concentrating your picks in the sweet spot of this draft.

 

If it were to happen id take the highest upside WR on the outside.... then some combo of DT/DE with the next two.  Im intrigued, just seems hard to generate a plan that justifies it
