Even as a woman, I am highly skeptical of someone choosing to post a sexual assault on social media.

it was a year later because she was disgusted he was not held accountable and was on the football team and the school did not help her.

I'm sorry.  That's just not something an assault victim does.  You talk to the police.  You talk to your family.  You talk to your therapist. You don't go to social media, calling attention to yourself.

Did you read the posts she made?  part of her issue is she spoke to the police over and over.

I did read it.  However, just because she posts her story, it doesn't make it true.

Also ... Hairston, at that age would have been a new recruit by the team.  Not a star player they needed to protect.

There is likely more to this story.

@MikePJ76, You are energetically presenting this as an open-and-shut case; theft, multiple rapes, and conspiracy, where you have found the truth over a lack of due-diligence by law enforcement, the University of Kentucky, the Buffalo Bills, the NFL, and the media.

Do you have a personal stake in this discussion?

I’m not reading all of that. I trust them with the pass on that kind of guy.

Especially how quick they were to distance themselves from the punt god.

OBD did not say that kid was guilty, just that it was a distraction for the team and they needed to part ways so he could take care of his personal legal business.

I think or hope they would have done their due diligence this time prior to drafting a kid this high.

Will trust OBD and how they value culture.

Beane did address this in his presser.  They and the NFL found there was nothing there.  In fact, Hairston offered at the time to take a polygraph.

Yes I don’t want to root for a rapist.

... Good thing he's not.

This is the kind of emotional response a child would make without rational thought.

He is no such thing just because someone said something, so put down your pitchfork.

We are so quick to take a woman's word over a mans word.  Woman use this for all types of reasons, revenge, attention, money etc.

I am sure due diligence was done by the league and team.

This doesn't mean all woman are liars or all men accused are rapists.....

I think the fact that nothing has happened in 4 years and you only found out about it from a TikTok/Insta post is all the clarity you should need.  Again if he did it, that means that UK, the cops, the media, the Bills and the NFL are all covering for him and that the Bills, after the Araiza fiasco, didn't vet him.  How likely do you think that is?

Did the “victim” file a civil suit against Hairston, UK police, the University…or anyone after not getting anywhere criminally?

Or is there more to this story other than what someone posts on social media?

To think this wasn’t thoroughly investigated in the #metoo day and age that was four and five years ago is ridiculous.

It seems like 25% of players coming into the league have allegations against them

I think some are legit

but a lot are women looking for an easy payout IMO

One out of four women were sexually assaulted in college. Legit actual reporting of statistic, doesn't mean prosecuted for verified.

The first I heard about the sexual assault allegations against Hairston dating back to 2021 was in the welcome presser on Friday. Beane said the Bills and the league had done due diligence and were confident that allegations had been investigated and dealt with at the time.

My take on it is this: it looks like the young lady concerned did everything you would properly expect an alleged victim to have done at the time. It isn't just being mentioned now because he has been drafted. She reported things to the police at the time, attended a medical facility, and raised it formally with the university. She also posted about it a year later in 2022, before Max had come to any sort of national prominence, so I do not think it is fair for anyone to sit here and accuse her of being a money grabber or in it for the fame or anything of that sort.

However, it also appears that an investigation was carried out, the university and the police looked into the matter and ultimately no charges were brought. Am I saying that means Max is definitely not guilty of the accusations made? Nope. But as I say in all of these cases we in western civilised society have justice systems for a reason. We have the principle of innocent until proven guilty for a reason. The way we determine guilt, attach labels like "rapist" to individuals and respond punitively is through the justice system. We have to trust it to do its work. In this case it seems to have concluded that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations. That does not mean they didn't happen, but it means that Hairston is an innocent man and should be treated as such. The court of public opinion, social media vigilantism and mob rule must be rejected at all costs.

It's concerning to hear this, of course it is. But the young man deserves the benefit of the doubt.
