 Not my choice , but glad they stayed and he made it to them. He will have some pretty good mentors btw. Now I like the White pick up even better. Even Jackson knows the Game well , as well as Bills football

I may be a bit harsh with the kid, but that’s what this stuff is all about. It’s sad that every reaction is disagreement. No one knows how this player will translate to the NFL. It’s already proven that good players can be drafted in later rounds(Benford, Johnson, Brady), my point was he wasn’t the best defensive back on the board or the best prospect. If he was available at 52 maybe.

KC and Simmons pick was the most obvious pick of the draft. My bet is KC told PHI they have calls from teams so if PHI has someone they want they better move up. For a 5th PHI took the bet and KC knew they would still get the guy they wanted plus the added pick. Great move by KC. We should have done it instead.

I won't hijack the thread too much to defend McKelvin and I also think Hairston should be better. But...

 

I always thought more teams than not had worse CB2's than McKelvin during that time. In his 8 years with th Bills he was named to the NFL's all rookie team, was top 10 in pass break ups and pick 6's twice, and fumble recoveries and interceptions once. All in different years. Add on his elite skill as a returner and it is a decent NFL career. He just wasn't the guy we hoped.

 

But to bring it back around without derailing. They seem to have elite physiological measuarables, similar size, and similar criticisms/areas in need for improvement. 

Coming from Troy and Kentucky are not the same thing.  Im most optimistic about his zone coverage ability.  Normally, guys with Hairstons ability are just told to cover that guy and thats it.  Having a college career in a zone heavy defense is a better reflection of NFL football.

Gotta say - I feel pretty great about our secondary.  A lot depends on Bishop right now, but it's a better unit than last year overall.  Wouldn't be surprised if we get a safety in the next pick or 2 just for insurance.

Yep. And I am hoping that daequan hardy has another strong camp at nickel. I'm glad he didn't get poached from the practice squad last year.

Leodis McKelvin

 

Tremendous athleticism. Can run with anybody and everybody. On the small-ish side. Needs to get stronger. Sometimes trouble tracking the ball.

 

I was a McKelvin fan btw. He played 9 years. Good cover corner who struggled to track the ball at times but almost never got beat. Not a world beater but a decent starter in the NFL. With the 11th pick everybody wanted a Nate Clements replacement. We got a solid starting outside corner. If McKelvin were picked 30th people would have viewed him differently. (Aside from that kickoff he fumbled)

 

 

Recall how he improved once he  was Coached to become the WR once the ball was in the air. Last year or two he actually looked for the ball ?

Hairston will be Coached up by some of the better Def NFL coaches in the NFL

I'm not sure as it felt like Simmons going to KC seemed an obvious fit. At least https://youtube.com/@hbtchiefs?feature=shared this guy seemed to want him quite a bit.
