But if there is a guy he like he is usually effusive in his praise like he has been with Hairston. He was that way with James Cook in 2022 too. He really liked George Pickens a few years ago, too, when others were not so keen on him (he dropped to the second round). Quote

Tyrod Taylor was not injury prone because somebody stuck a needle into his lung. This is not the same as recovering from a blown out knee. And yes, I would expect a bad shoulder to have some impact on his tackling. 1 Quote

Interweb research is inconclusive... This is from his coaching Bio. 1989 Combine was coaches only, not a media event like today. He was invited to NFL combine trials in Indianapolis in 1989 where he (and Deion Sanders) ran the 40-yard dash in a record-setting 4.25 seconds. Quote

Dillenger4 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I LOVE this pick! I called CB all the way up until the pick was in, for months. I do agree with many posters here - The Bills will double dip at CB today especially if Amos or Will Johnson drop. Hairston will start day 1 no doubt. The questions is.... is Benford OK after the concussion/neck injury? I'm not saying he isn't but we need another CB. Taron Johnson and Dane Jackson with be the slot corner/Nickel corner. That leaves us Hairston, Benford at CB #1 and #2. If one falls today snag him! Go get a safety after that and boom baby - we are gonna be a tough D to beat. No get Carter back. Bosa play well. Ogun and Heicht after 6 games come back ready and full of piss! Quote

Ya if you draft another corner at that spot, you're basically signing up for one of your first or second round picks to be a back up for multiple years - Just wouldn't make sense 2 1 Quote

I don't like to pick as I said I'm just very dubious of some SEC players in this day and age a lot of coddling and I'm going to question how hard they're going to work especially pouring to cold weather. I saw a few Kentucky games and hairston never really stood out to me. A lot of the analysis by the bills guys like Joe Marino, Chopin bulldog. I just didn't think hairston was a scheme fit for us. A weak tackler. A weak tackler somewhat undersized more accustomed to man. I think I recalled Joe Marino saying just recently that Amos was much better fit than hairston. And so I don't like to pick. I probably would have The South Carolina safety. He's an undeniable athlete, a predator in the backfield. I don't think there's anyone of that talent that was available. Safety is a sneaky need and our defense has not been good since we had elite safeties. I get the good DT s were off the board again. Why didn't we move up to get one? Even staying put , we could have wound up with the best safety in this draft. Instead we get probably the 4th or fifth Best corner. It feels like the elam picked to me and I know know we can't be traumatized by that, but that's how I feel. . He is the same size as Tre White. In WGR interview said he is up to 192. Elams problem was he could not keep his hands off people, not tackling Edited 22 hours ago by noacls Sp Quote

Scouting report indicates he will struggle with big receivers. This guy’s not a first rounder. What happened to the big swing with the extra pick. Between his insistence on alienating Cook and this wasted pick, I’m hoping Beane’ stubbornness and the fact he can’t draft defensive backs is his only weakness. Having Elam and Bishop on his resume doesn’t instill confidence. Brandon Beane INSISTS on alienating THIS player click to find out Quote

I don't think CB was the dire need people have painted it, and I would have much preferred someone in the trenches. That said, DL was pretty picked over and Golden & Starks were gone. With a major drop on CBs, Hairston is probably darn close to BPA and *does* fill *a* need, even if it's not as critical as I think some believe it to be. That said, a three way battle of Hairston-Tre-Dane for the CB2-4 rankings seems to make is one of the deepest CB groups in the league I love that your "irrationally upset" post still included the facts that DL and WR were picked over, that CB was probably the best value at our pick, and that we may now have one of the deepest CB groups in the league. If this is the new "shouting angry Bills fan", I'll take it! 😅 Bravo! 1 2 1 Quote

I do think them going safety is more likely if they dont go DT or WR. I know they like this Joshua Farmer kid... I would be surprised if we dont see us draft him if we keep both 2s. I'd probably prefer someone with some inside/out potential, or even a big nickel type safety for the future. Quote
Since1981 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Forget about tackles. The CB main job is coverage. Huge upgrade, need. aside from chain gang—Elam had a huge part of that loss. He was horrific. Chiefs completed passes of 11 and 12 yard. third-down conversion, facemask penalty, pass interference early in the second half. Quote

HappyDays Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago 1 hour ago, BarleyNY said: Hairston was one of the players where I questioned his fit with the Bills. In his case it’s obviously not his coverage I am worried about, but the run support/tackling issues he has had. Seems as though that would have been a deal breaker for McDermott and his scheme. What are your thoughts on this? Apparently he was a better and more willing tackler before his shoulder injury. But anyways I just don't care that much about run support for my CBs. It's like blocking for a WR, a nice plus but not the make or break attribute. Tre White even in his prime also was not great in run support or as a tackler and he was still elite in our scheme. I just want my top CBs to cover and break up passes. 4 3 1 Quote
