Kevyn Adams bills GM (Hypothetical)

What would this team look like with Sabres GM Kevyn Adams at the helm?  Assume he takes the reins in 2017...

I prefer to think he's the GM starting in 2019, with his first act as GM being trading Josh Allen to the eventual SB champion that season. His next act as GM would be stocking the team with draft picks and UDFA's without any veterans to guide them. The defining characteristic of these players would not be skill, or fitting a style of play, or that they would augment the existing team. Instead it would be that they want to be here where there's no palm trees and lots of taxes. Finally, he would hire a new coach (probably Marv Levy) and immediately saddle the person with the last coach's staff to save the owner money. Despite winning 2 fewer games each season of his tenure, he would inexplicably continue on in his role as GM because the team is the youngest in the league and apparently his smug head fits perfectly in Pegula's ass. #### Kevyn Adams... and if anyone sees him anywhere near One Bills Drive they should run him over with a zamboni.

Josh Rosen still being developed... Dion Dawkins traded for a 3rd cause he is too mean... Steph Diggs never traded for... Hamlin gone cause he cares to much, Rapp gone or never signed cause he hits too much, Zay Jones still starting because he is gonna be a great one... Tremaine Edmunds still with the Bills cause he is only 14 yrs old and has tremendous upside... Rex Ryan on his 2nd stint with the team after Adams fired Phil Jackson cause "who knew Basketball didnt translate well to football"...  Jim Kelly hired as LB coach cause thats where he played 2 way in HS and we had an open spot.. Dorsey still OC cause he is the only OC that would stay... Rexies Bro is DC... and Adams looking to get Brett Hull out of retirement as K cause his kick ins are clutch... oh wait that was only a skate in the crease.. no matter... he gets him anyways.. the new stadium doesnt get built but the Highmark has the best renovated bathrooms in the league...  and lastly... he eschews free agent signings in lieu of using the money on tropical heat lamps so we can grow palm trees outside Highmark....

I'm a firm believer that Terry Pegula is fully capable of running the Buffalo Bills into the ground.

To be specific I think we'd be loaded with young slot corners,a young back 7 that can't really cover anybody but they do have way more interceptions than our analytics would think they would.

 

We'd also have tons of RB's with bad visions and no OL run behind.

 

Our QB room would be like 6 different versions of Mike White or Gardner Minshew just waiting to blossom under the right leadership or whatever.

Somebody here once posted that it was in Brandon Beane's contract he gets final say in all football related decisions, and that Terry had publicly stated that despite the Bills success he had always regretted this clause.   If this is true I'd really like to know the source.

I've heard that rumor, but I think it might have been on his extension.

 

My barely educated two cents is that both franchises are managed identically. Terry is very open about allowing anybody and everybody to come directly to him with ideas. Which is awesome in some ways but without structure makes definite roles and taking inventory for improvement nearly impossible.

 

We see it with the Sabres a ton. And we saw it early with Rex and Whaley and Brandon. The advantage McBeane have is a past prior working relationship and being hired more or less as a package. So Beane is never going to Terry without McD nor McD to Terry without Beane.

 

The Sabres have been a hire this position, then that position, and then this other position, and they all independently push for their own image of the organization to Terry and Terry piece meals it all together.

 

I think it's less meddling and more lack of leadership and structure from the ownership. Without some definition and ultimate responsibility in the org it's nearly impossible to hold people responsible.

 

Terry Pegula is why I have next to no interest in splitting up McBeane. In addition to both being above average at their individual craft they keep our owner in check, which is also a skill.

 

Just a real life hypothetical on the Bills side. At least how I see the last 14 years of the Sabres:

 

Let's just say we finally move on from McDermott and we even promote from within (and Beane does not have that line in his contract). Say Joe Brady takes over too keep congruency. We struggles a bit but Brady keeps clamoring to Pegula on the side that we need to start drafting x players instead of y players. Terry starts telling Beane to start prioritizing positoon x. The team gets worse. Everybody blames Beane, but Beane lost control lose 2-1 to Brady/Terry.

 

Then we get a new GM and that GM is saddled with Brady and he tells Terry "Actually Joey B is an idiot." And Terry goes "yeah he's an idiot". So we start drafting a hodge podge of players that don't work with the current coach.

 

Then we hire a new coach who goes to Terry to split the tie on what to do with the roster.

 

And around and around we go for 14 years.

 

Terry Pegula believes this is a feature not a bug.
