My son can be a play or two ahead or behind during a game. That is true. I stream WGR broadcast. Sometimes they are ahead and others behind and ESPN gamecast is ahead often. Such is the time we live in. Better than only 3 channels. 1 Quote

In hindsight though, drafting three running backs in the first round pry was a major contributor to the drought. Where were you when we needed you analytics? I get it, it's not analytics though.. as you realize. It's insane that we did that I'm one of those guys that says draft a cornerback and a running back every year in the late rounds and always get an offensive or defensive lineman in the top four picks every year. I've got some weird ideas though if I was in charge, I would scour all of the college tape, look at every metric, and find a 6 ft 300 lb offensive lineman or defensive lineman that ran very fast and looks like he could be a big bruising fullback. I would draft him and then tell him he's going to be a fullback. Short yardage Downs I would have them in there and fullback. Short yardage Downs I might even put them under center. Quote

I personally watch the broadcast too but as Augie said, even "broadcast" is different based on streaming, vs satellite, etc. I'm 50, my sons are 20 and 18, we consume information differently. Their buddies are on Twitter too and they all give each other crap about who their teams picked. I don't have a dog in the fight but I disagree with Gonzo and others calling other postera a holes or ignorant because they don't get information through ESPN or the NFL Network. I'm with Simon and Chandler, etc about just setting the standard so there's an understanding of how it will be done on TBD. But the name calling is a bit over the top for me. It's not even tipping pics, it's getting info different is all. 1 Quote

After a grueling 45 seconds of foreplay, just as I was about to consummate “christening” my wife, she yelled out “The Bills drafted MAYBIN? This is the worst night of my life!” That’s bad. If it’s any consolation… at the exact same moment my best friend threw the remote through my tv screen. Quote

Have some respect for the rest of the community and just don't do it. Just avoid it altogether; trying to manage two different threads is a pita and not worth it That would be fantastic and I would amend it to "announced the pick on the network broadcast". Not sure I understand this logic. would you ban a poster if he (she, they, it, them) posted “next play is a deep shot to Knox” in the in game thread? Cause that’s the same as tipping that Giants are taking Carter. Maybe it right, maybe not. Quote

Those of us that prefer to watch on TV don't want to be spoiled, Game day threads get so busy that a play tip usually gets buried before the play comes on screen. No I get that, and that's why I like the standard/ mods decision. I just think it's potentially unfair to think everyone who knows the pic and wants to then come here, is automatically doing it to be nasty. They could want to just come here and talk about it, because they don't watch broadcast and know about it 4 minutes earlier. Edited yesterday at 12:35 AM by White Linen Quote

From my part there are two particular posters - one I don't think posts here any more and one who I think does who a couple of years ago were tipping every single pick, being asked to stop, then told to stop, then warned by a mod to stop and just carried on. When I refer to idiots who just want to ruin the enjoyment for others that is who I am talking about. If someone arrives here unsuspecting because they have seen something on twitter, posts in the draft thread, unaware that they are tipping picks I wouldn't call them an idiot. But that is not what we have dealt with in previous years. It was particularly bad that one year... I think 2022. It's been better since. And last night was perfect. Quote

Goin Breakdown Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago This board was "tipping picks" all night for me because I was obviously on a delay. Whose fault is that? Is the first person to say anything the bad guy? When is too soon to post? Streams and broadcasts varied all night. everyone says "wait until the commish announces it, it's that easy". Well that's what I did and we were already a page or so deep in discussion. Its not that I care exactly, but its seems there was a standard that wasn't ( or can't be exactly) lived by. Quote

Because the folks on X know the name before it is even written on a card let alone given to the commissioner. They have access to the official league wire. You'd literally just have to have Rog stand out there all night with an ear piece in and say the name into the mic the second it comes down the wire. Because that is what the twitter accounts are doing as soon as that name comes down they take 1 second to type, press a button and the world knows. Quote
