We have been told it's not good behind the scenes.  If I am Beane I am fielding calls,and sitting back to see how the Draft unfolds.  If the situation is right, I can see him used for a trade up, or picks.

He's sitting out Voluntary OTA's. This isn't shocking and was pretty much expected. And Beane doesn't have a problem with it.

 

The last report from Schefter is he's unhappy about his contract (obviously) but will play for us this year. If something changes and he decides to hold out during mandatory practices or games, it's worth revisiting then.

 

But the outrage over this reads like people who want him traded using it as a reason to do so. The reality is, nothing's changed. We all expected this.

If he doesn’t show up at camp fine the crap out of him. This is a huge opportunity for Ray Davis, hope he takes advantage of this. These opportunities don’t come often.

Voluntary still means you can show up, or not ... Remember it was just 420.

 

If Cook thinks not showing up for voluntary workouts will get Beane to flinch and give him 15M per, have at it, it won't work.

 

When Davis was drafted last year I guessed he'd be the starter in 2026, then of course Cook had a career year. I still think Davis will be the starter in 26 and they'll draft his replacement next year. It keeps you on the not paying a RB past initial contract path.

Well, it seems that Cook is adamant about $15M per year (and we don't know how much he expects in guarantees or years) and Beane

is probably at his "market value" which is $10.2M.  I'm betting neither is going to move off those numbers unless the other does too.

 

I'm thinking Cook is wanting a 4 year $60M contract.  Probably wanting $35M+ in guarantees.  I wouldn't be shocked if Beane thinks 

that is way too much.  What happens is still unknown, but the best Beane can expect is Cook plays out his contract and the Bills get a comp pick

in 2027 if he doesn't back up in his demands.

 

I'm sad they can't get this done.  I really would like Cook to be a Bills for the next 3 years.  Unfortunately, with the social media stuff, the

home up for sale and the no-show for the voluntary OTAs makes this going forward all on James.  He either backs up some or moves it on

down the line.
