But I was pretty freaking early on Mahomes, and I said right here numerous times that he was the #1 overall prospect in that Draft... I was also early on DK Metcalf, Chris Jones (I absolutely loved him and thought he was the #1 D-lineman in that Draft), George Pickens (yes I admitted he was a crazy person), Riq Woolen, I liked Tee Higgins when the Bills traded away that pick for Diggs...had no idea Jefferson would still be there though... And a few others my memory will no longer allow me to recall... Because I'm old...lol Anyway... Too be fair I've had my share of misses... The biggest being OT Greg Robinson who I thought would be an absolute beast, though I think I was pretty spot on about Clowney in that same Draft... Not taking anything away from @thebandit27... Great minds and all... But as far as Mahomes goes... Just needed to plant my flag... I remember you being in early as well. Y’all convinced me over the process that he wasn’t just the product of that spread offense. You guys were right. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted Sunday at 06:08 PM Posted Sunday at 06:08 PM Go back and check the tape. I was one of the first to suggest Josh Allen. Does it really matter once you get the QB? After that any one of us could have had the same success rate Beane has had. 1 1 Quote

I was simply saying, there is so much talent there, we could design a draft of only OSU players and it wouldn’t be horrible. None of them are really reaches. We’d fill needs. I would like to draft an OSU guy this year. Quote

We haven’t had really good luck outside of the DBs back in the day I think so. They’ve had Samuel and Boom Herron since. They have Bosa now as well. I think Xavier Johnson was in camp too. The Bills scouted them pretty heavily this year. Quote

Maine-iac Posted Sunday at 06:27 PM Posted Sunday at 06:27 PM There are very distinct draft camps. There are groups of people who want to draft a WR first round every year no matter what. A group that want to draft a pass rusher every year no matter what. Then a group that thinks whatever position we need just draft the guy with the fastest 40 time and we'll be all set. Finally there is a group that actually sees nuance and in game production and weights needs and skills with draft position to come up with some pretty interesting scenarios. In the end there are so many takes. I'd probably be no better at picking someone to draft for us than I would actually drafting players. Part of the fun is seeing how things turn out after time. 1 Quote

I was furious at the wrong Josh pick. I knew Aaron Maybin would be a bust, even as an avid Penn State fan. I just saw him as too immature. I also disliked Boogie Basham. I took note of Josh Rosen the first game of the UCLA season prior to the draft and liked him. But as the season went on, I realized UCLA was winning in spite of him, not because of him. Did not like his demeanor. Not so with Josh Allen. I knew he would be a winner. The guy screamed team with every game! I held my breath hoping to hear Allen and not Rosen in the 2018 draft. Then I enjoyed the back and forth between Kiper and McShay in the aftermath. Edited Sunday at 06:35 PM by jkeerie Quote
MikePJ76 Posted Sunday at 06:54 PM Posted Sunday at 06:54 PM Nobody. We would end up with 46 wr on the gameday roster if someone from this community had the power. 1 2 Quote
hondo in seattle Posted Sunday at 06:56 PM Posted Sunday at 06:56 PM I wouldn't want fans drafting. Beane has an entire staff of professional scouts who spend a ridiculous amount of time learning their craft, talking to coaches, watching film, etc. No fan can come close to replicating all that. But if you put a gun to my head: either GunnerBill or Gonzo. Quote

Consider it making amends for the shabby treatment that Robert Foster received while a Buffalo Bill. A future HoF WR thrown on the junkpile. * 😉 1 Quote

So I evaluated and recruited players from the HS to the D1 College ranks so I’ve never been in an NFL arena but I do know quite a few people at the Division 1 &2 levels as well as a couple of NFL scouts and a handful of personnel people at the college level but sometimes you have to be careful talking to college coaches cause they’ll inflate their own guys 1 Quote

Still, I would hope that an entire scouting department and access to college coaches, medical records, game tape, Draft Combine, pro day visits/interviews, and experience in high-level scouting position would lead to more knowledgeable people in drafting. Who knows though? Haha yes you would think that for sure but man the Bills were really bad at it for years haha 1 Quote

PonyBoy Posted Sunday at 10:52 PM Posted Sunday at 10:52 PM Interesting how Gunner Bill has not chimed in on this thread... Maybe he's busy in Beanes war room as we speak getting his brain picked for this draft 🤔 1 Quote
