Too be fair I've had my share of misses... The biggest being OT Greg Robinson who I thought would be an absolute beast, though I think I was pretty spot on about Clowney in that same Draft...

 

Not taking anything away from @thebandit27... Great minds and all... But as far as Mahomes goes... Just needed to plant my flag...

Go back and check the tape. I was one of the first to suggest Josh Allen.  Does it really matter once you get the QB?  After that any one of us could have had the same success rate Beane has had.

Lol, I wasn’t advocating for it. I was simply saying, there is so much talent there, we could design a draft of only OSU players and it wouldn’t be horrible. None of them are really reaches. We’d fill needs. I would like to draft an OSU guy this year.

I think so. They’ve had Samuel and Boom Herron since. They have Bosa now as well. I think Xavier Johnson was in camp too. The Bills scouted them pretty heavily this year.

There are very distinct draft camps.  There are groups of people who want to draft a WR first round every year no matter what.  A group that want to draft a pass rusher every year no matter what.  Then a group that  thinks whatever position we need just draft the guy with the fastest 40 time and we'll be all set.  Finally there is a group that actually sees nuance and in game production and weights needs and skills with draft position to come up with some pretty interesting scenarios.  In the end there are so many takes.  I'd probably be no better at picking someone to draft for us than I would actually drafting players.  Part of the fun is seeing how things turn out after time.

I was furious at the wrong Josh pick.  

I knew Aaron Maybin would be a bust, even as an avid Penn State fan.  I just saw him as too immature.   I also disliked Boogie Basham.

 

I took note of Josh Rosen the first game of the UCLA season prior to the draft and liked him.  But as the season went on, I realized UCLA was winning in spite of him, not because of him.  Did not like his demeanor.  Not so with Josh Allen.  I knew he  would be a winner.  The guy screamed team with every game!  I held my breath hoping to hear Allen and not Rosen in the 2018 draft.  Then I enjoyed the back and forth between Kiper and McShay in the aftermath.

I wouldn't want fans drafting.  Beane has an entire staff of professional scouts who spend a ridiculous amount of time learning their craft, talking to coaches, watching film, etc.  No fan can come close to replicating all that.  

 

But if you put a gun to my head: either GunnerBill or Gonzo.

@Buffalo Barbarian gets my vote . He is the premier identifier of QB talent so he must be good at other positional evaluations too

Yea I agree, I was taught at the college level. So I evaluated and recruited players from the HS to the D1 College ranks so I’ve never been in an NFL arena but I do know quite a few people at the Division 1 &2 levels as well as a couple of NFL scouts and a handful of personnel people at the college level but sometimes you have to be careful talking to college coaches cause they’ll inflate their own guys
