Mike in Horseheads Posted Friday at 07:48 PM Posted Friday at 07:48 PM Bob McAdoo scored 50 points 50 years ago today − and ever since, no NBA player has gone for 50 or more points with 20 or more rebounds in a playoff game. McAdoo shot 20 of 32 from the field and 10 of 14 from the foul line with two blocks, two steals and one assist to go with 21 rebounds. Public-address announcer Dan Neaverth might well have gotten hoarse from all his calls of: "That's two− for McAdoo!" Augie Posted Friday at 07:53 PM Posted Friday at 07:53 PM (edited) I actually loved the NBA back then! Now I won’t even watch the Finals and I change the channel if the NBA becomes the topic. EDIT: WOW! That brings back some memories. I may have been at that game! We split four season tickets with another family and spent a lot of great times sitting in that second level bowl in the corner. It felt like we were on the court, and a friend had even better seats. We were not wealthy, it must have been very affordable compared to today. Somebody has to pay those enormous salaries, but it won’t be me. I could go back and watch an old Braves game, but you can’t make me watch the NBA today. EDIT: In retrospect, nobody who ever met my father would describe him as wise with money, so there’s that. 🤷♂️ But it sure was FUN! . . Edited Friday at 09:13 PM by Augie 1 Quote

US Egg Posted Friday at 08:47 PM Posted Friday at 08:47 PM My kid has a basement bar loaded, covered wall to wall and shelves filled, with Bills stuff. Thought he needed to better represent Buffalo sports so I got him autographed Perreault and McAdoo jerseys. His response upon opening: McAdoo, was he good? Anyways, I was a Buffalo Braves Jr. booster, went a bunch. Finally had enough of the NBA, just canceled my NBA ticket. There’s just too much to overlook and not like. Quote
