eball Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Hey guys — not sure how much interest there is in this topic on this particular forum, but I’m a Tar Heel alum living in Chapel Hill and despite my biases I think this is one of, if not THE, biggest stories of the upcoming CFB season. It’s unprecedented. Belichick and his GM, Michael Lombardi, have made no bones about calling UNC an NFL-prep program. The school has raised its NIL game and I can’t wait to see what happens. I think it has the potential to be a colossal success or spectacular failure. Oh, and the 24–year-old girlfriend makes for great takes also. 😂 Anyway, feel free to comment as the season progresses. I never thought the day would arrive when I would become a Belichick fan… 1 1 Quote
US Egg Posted April 18 Posted April 18 I would think it’s reward enough living in Chapel Hill. It’s beautiful around there. Wouldn’t surprise me if that played into Belichick’s decision to take the job. As far as how he does, I hope well just to annoy his petty detractors. 1 Quote
Mark Vader Posted April 18 Posted April 18 I'm just hoping that an opposing player from another team delivers a flying helmet shot to Belichick's head. 2 Quote

Now you funny, too. 46 minutes ago, Mark Vader said: I'm just hoping that an opposing player from another team delivers a flying helmet shot to Belichick's head. Immediately, Belichick starts emoting like Frasier Crane. UNC stages 'My Fair Lady' as the Spring musical, Belichick in drag as Eliza Dolittle. Quote
YoloinOhio Posted April 18 Posted April 18 It’s so weird with the gf involved in the spring game and such Quote

She is being cc’d on emails to Belichick, and it appears her primary “involvement” is in the area of social media and messaging. Must-see-TV this year IMO.. Quote

Mikie2times Posted Monday at 09:05 PM Posted Monday at 09:05 PM The ACC is so bad, they will have a path if they can make it work. But color me skeptical. The GF getting involved in day to day. Calling it the 33rd team, as in the 33rd NFL team. Newsflash, while these kids want to make money, they also still want to be kids. They can do that at most the other universities in the country. They don't need a military grade HC degrading them and running them into the ground pretending they're at the pro level. I don't think he will last more than a year or two and I imagine the carnage will end up being pretty epic. Quote

So, it sounds as if you haven’t really been following this at all, since that isn’t how Belichick has been coming across. They recently completed spring practice and it was noted how much sharper everything was run, but how BB seemed to really be having fun and was coaching up kids at all positions (not “military grade” degradation as you suggest). I’ve read your posts on the main forum and your takes are typically bad there as well, so this is not surprising. Still, thanks for sharing! Quote

The athletic is the primary one. You're correct, I don't follow a nationally irrelevant program as close as somebody who went to school there like you. As I said, the ACC is a trash conference for football (soon to be basketball if not already). Anybody could come out of it. Which should leave a pretty good path for him if he can take advantage of it. Would I be completely shocked if he did? Certainly not. I wouldn't be shocked if he totally tanked or had a lot of success (whatever success means, beating Duke or Wake Forest something). Edited Tuesday at 05:12 PM by Mikie2times Quote
