This makes me puke. Bad move and waste of $$$. "Mentor"??? Are u kidding me? Tre barely speaks on a good day.

This is a $6Mil traffic cone.

This BETTER NOT effect the draft for CB in first round. Tre is cooked and has been for many years. he can't tackle. Never could. He's lost on the field and this move literally infuriates me! This is worse than the two 6-game suspension moves.

Maybe this is a win - Cam Lewis got cooked in the slot and also consider, a safety role? Hamlin needed to be released last year. He brings some, needed exp w/ McD's defense. Not like we broke the bank.

guarantee much of that money is incentives(hence the "up to" reference) that is highly unlikely to be seen unless he returns to previous form.

This is an upside, no downside signing, at least from a positional point of view.

There's essentially 5 basic reactions in this topic that are cycling in circles for 15 pages now but the above is all you need to know.

There is no downside.

It's amazing that some people here are citing his performance with the Rams as a negative. I was shocked that LA signed him less than 6 months after his injury and then started him 11 months after his injury.

How on God's earth did the Rams think that would turn out well?

If I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it but I believe that many of the naysayers here will be eating their words come September.

We shall see.

They saw a former All-Pro who was a Free Agent after multiple injuries and gambled that he could return to form.

Isn’t that what we are doing, just later in the process?

It’s already documented in this thread but some folks have to whine ad/or do the whole alpha male keyboard GM thing all the time.

Unless time stood still we signed a guy to play 23 months after an Achilles while the Rams signed him to start 11 months after an Achilles.  See the difference?

Spoiler alert: 23-11=12.

Ruptured Achilles tendon...

6 months vs 18 months... 11 months vs 23 months...

Am I missing something here?

I mean sure, it's been longer since the injury. That's why I said "later in the process."

We are still hoping he can regain some of his form, after having a limited market after injury and poor play post-injury, right?

I'm sure there's some argument of what is riskier:

Guy A who was playing well pre-injury but hasn't played since

Guy B who was playing well pre-injury but was a disaster post-injury, but it's been longer since the injury

To me, the situations aren't that different at all.

I don't necessarily mind the signing especially since I expect the real salary to be minimal. I just don't want it to turn into a thing where it's week 8 and our highly drafted rookie can't get on the field because Tre is in front of him. From a pure football perspective I feel about this signing the same way that I would if we had re-signed Douglas. Which is to say I hope the intention is for him to be nothing more than depth that happens to have familiarity with the system.

I unfortunately don't have any optimism he can get back anywhere near the player he once was. I'd love to be proven wrong but I think physically he is done. I've seen a growing narrative that he was a good player for Baltimore. I mean he was better than he was with LA almost by default, but he also only played 34% of defensive snaps for Baltimore. Brandon Stephens was getting deliberately targeted by their opponents and was widely hated by their fanbase, and they still opted to keep him as the starter in front of Tre. So I would keep the expectations low.

I think this move allows much more leeway for a 2nd round pick at CB.  Now they have Tre vs Dane for the CB2 spot until the rookie can take it.  This screams of Revel/Porter possibilities.

If they find a DLman in round 1 capable of rotating in day 1, it helps cover the blunder of the PED mess.

The 2025 schedule looks like it sets up for the Bills to make a run at the #1 seed,  that is huge, time for the Bills to take it.

Is there any way to get a split of what his grades and stats were when he was with the Ravens? According to Ravens fans and some pundits he looked a lot better when he joined the Ravens later in the season. Rams fans said he looked completely washed.

All I've seen was that he had a 52.9 rating from PFF for the entire season - putting him in the bottom 25% of NFL CBs.

Do you have a Rams/Ravens breakdown?

PFR is great

Penalties not included but the Balt play looks significantly better

No, because he played last year. With the Rams he was still recovering.

So he has a normal off-season conditioning program as opposed to rehab

He is also a scheme fit and familiar with Buffalo

The rams were asking him to be cb1 right after 2 major injuries, we are not

Maybe different reactions to this are greatly affected by what you assume the Bills will do in the early rounds.  I'm assuming 1T/DL in round 1, then maybe CB.  That didn't change at all with this signing.  So.im fine with this as White being good depth or a stopgap starter.

Imo, our main issue is stopping the run.  Hence the DL.  I would also like us to play tighter man coverage, but I don't think that'll ever happen with McDermott.

Haha it's kinda silly how hyped up some folks get over a player signing with his old team.

I love Tre. The ACL was a bummer and 2022 was a shaky season for him but he looked nearly 100% like the old Tre at the start of 2023 and then bam, Achilles.

I don't think they'd be expecting to come in and start but maybe they feel comfortable enough that he'll do alright whenever he does need to take some snaps.

I was thinking CB in round one, and now not so sure.

\

What is funny to me is that the Chiefs have an inside guy in the Bill's scouting department, so they know what Buffalo is going to do beforehand. Ever since that 2022 draft, when both teams needed a CB and the Chiefs traded up to snag Trent McDuffie. Meanwhile, the Bills scrambled to draft Kaiir Elam with a trade-up.

Then last year, with both teams looking at WRs...now this year with both teams needing DL, CB.  Just makes me wonder...this franchise's biggest rival.

Boom, couldn't have said it any better.

Wonder if the deal includes any incentives for helping the Sabres goalies? 🤔
