They saw a former All-Pro who was a Free Agent after multiple injuries and gambled that he could return to form.

Isn’t that what we are doing, just later in the process?

Yes we are, but "later in the process" is important.  The Rams seemed to discount how long it took him with the ACL and took that gamble way too soon.  No way would I want Beane to take a chance on a guy with Tre's history and timing when the Rams did.  It may not work out for us, but now is a good time post-injury to make this gamble.

Beane doesn't like going into the draft feeling desperate about any position.   And we all know desperate GMs make mistakes - like Elam.

I think the Bills might still take a CB early depending on how the board plays out.  But now Beane is less likely to reach.

And it’s not a gamble if the contract is lower which it will be. He would be a 2-4th CB if healthy and we can still draft for the future

So this is depth player who will be out there if someone is hurt or spot situations, I anticipate they will be working in a rookie from the top 2-3 rounds. It’s a great addition. Hes not a CB1 anymore but he’s a fringe 2 and he gets a bump in this defense due to his deep understanding of it and his overall “buy in” to the teams philosophy and goals. They trust him and know what he can and can’t do and that’s key to game planning and calling a defense.

Sure but also Tre’s bad tape out there from 2024 hurt his market, right?

I don’t mind taking the risk because it’s pennies, but the reason it’s pennies is likely because there’s no bidding war for Tre’s services.

dont tell @4merper4mer but it’s the same reason Von isn’t on a team right now.

Hope he can regain form here. Would be a huge boost.

Well let’s bring Von back to. Add in Poyer.  They know the playbook, McD trusts them.

Bills have a problem getting over the hump and a lot of it has to do with the ***** D in playoffs. McD keeps relying on ***** wisdom over physical ability.  At the end of the season we’ll be having the same conversations we have year after year.

You seem to think that there's a category - good players who used to play for the Bills.  And you seem to think that everyone who is in that category is, by definition, no longer useful to the Bills.

Thank goodness that Beane and McDermott actually have brains in their heads and can examine the case of each former Bill and see the differences between them.

There's always that remote chance, that he's closer to his old self vs. Last year's version, being that he finally was able to have a normal offseason.

Then why does the season end in the same format every year?

🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m sick of the same results from doing the same thing year after year. They win but don’t achieve the ultimate goal.

That’s crap. If you’re any GM worth your salt. You don’t need a $6.8 million security blanket to go get what your team actually needs.

He may not like it, but yes he has, yes he does and he's gotta do it again, except this year he has 2 desperate positions. He drafts for need every single year. You can argue Kincaid but all anyone talked about was going 12 personnel for months before.

Maybe we should have a poll. What are 3 things that Beane will most likely do and/or who he will pick rd. 1 and compare the consensus to the results.

Does this suggest that the Bills consider Tre White better than Rasul Douglas at this point?

Yes.... And its not even close... Thats why it kills me when people are calling this a depth move.. Tre is here to compete for #2 CB. Did you guys really think Dane Jackson was going to fight for that job?

I will take 70% Tre over 100% Dane any day of the week.. I will take 70% Tre over 100% Douglas any day of the week..

Tre wants to prove it to his Buddies back here in Buffalo... And I think he WILL!

GO Bills.

I don't like this signing ,  vet min would have been max amount.  White was traded by LA because he could no longer cover and were bringing him on a high price tag to be a mentor.  This is why we can't get over the hump,  it's these types od signings by Beane.

Humm I guess you know what the deal is then? Base, bonuses etc... right...

It's not 6.8m. It's "up to 6.8m". I'd be surprised if the actual money was even a 3rd of that.

This is what a "GM's worth their salt" do. Set yourself up with a floor and insurance policy's. Relying only on the Draft is a risk. You don't know how the board is going to fall.

I think in White (and also Jackson) they're taking a chance on someone that knows the system at a cheap price. Neither will preclude Beane from Drafting someone. And neither contract is one that we can't move on from if the Draft falls right. But you don't want to be in a place where the cupboard is completely bare if the board doesn't fall right.

If the board didn’t fall right Tre could easily been signed after. You are talking like he had teams knocking on his door since FA started and Beane jumped in and snagged him for insurance.

So it all comes down to knowing the system which it seems to be the Buffalo way these past couple years. Kind of getting sick of it. Players with limitations that have better knowledge of system get that start. Ultimately slows down the development of young players who may of been able to help us come playoff time if they seen more action throughout the regular season.

Well, the cupboard isn’t bare at all now. It’s got up to $6.8 million piece.

So there you go. All ready to draft.

However else could we proceed!?
