Tre White PFF grade 2024 52.9

Dane Jackson PFF grade 2024 33.8

Rasul Douglas PFF grade 59.2

Elam PFF grade 70.2

For some reason I don’t feel better about the changes at CB despite the returnees being former and once again Bills.

Is there any way to get a split of what his grades and stats were when he was with the Ravens? According to Ravens fans and some pundits he looked a lot better when he joined the Ravens later in the season. Rams fans said he looked completely washed.

He was completely different in Baltimore. And he fits OUR Defense.

Thank you!

Everyone loves to say "old CB who doesn't have it for Corner anymore? Move them to Safety". That's not how it works. You need to have the traits necessary to make that switch. Tre does not have those traits.

Exactly. Think of a guy like Troy Vincent, who was an outstanding cover corner for Miami early in his career but had the necessary size and physicality to make the switch when his athleticism slowly waned. Tre always had an extremely lean build for a corner, let alone a safety. He was generally terrible in run support despite solid effort. There is nothing about his game that suggests he could move to either safety position successfully at this stage.

One of my favorites coming back!
1. He was terrible with rams but with ravens (limited role and getting healthy) he was decent.

2. He likely won’t be starting. Bigger point is this does NOT impact draft plans. We need an outside corner coming off bench. I’m cool with Tre being that guy and veteran presence.

3. 0% he will be a safety. That’s not a fit at all

4. He’s significantly better than Dane Jackson. Almost anyone is

I don't know about PFF grades.  I do know the sentiment around Ravens fans was that he played better than expected and hoped they'd bring him back but only at the right price.  Half glass full is it takes two years before you truly recovery from a ruptured Achilles.  Rodgers wouldn't shut up about it.

100% knows the system and is a locker room fit, is older (29 turns 30 in January) but not ancient, and is going to be coming up on two years removed from his last serious injury. He's a starting caliber option which is what the Bills needed. Not gonna take CB off he draft need list but it makes the Bills at least a little less desperate there which is a positive.

I wasn't paying too much attention to his time w/ the Ravens - but the consensus among their fans seems to be that he was pretty solid for them toward the end of last season & in the playoffs.

Here's hoping.

In a mentorship role and backup capacity, I love this. Draft a CB in the first 3 picks and let Tre take him to Goalie school.

still a bit pricey though…

Up to...not necessarily even close to 6.8M...

Win win in my opinion.

A vet coming to a championship aspiring team who doesn't have to adjust to a learning curve.

At minimum it opens up some different draft options and contingency plans goin forward for the reason listed above.

Overall a solid move

He was never a good tackler not happening.

I don’t know why people keep saying that. First off, I’m going to tell you right now nobody thought Hyde was a physical corner. Not even close. Second, where was all this poor tackling when Tre was here? I never remember one instance of feeling that way. What decade do people think this is? These modern day corners are glorified deep corners. Especially in this defense. Ronnie Lott isn’t running around taking people’s heads off. This guy would be perfect to move to S IMO

The other thing I noticed on Twitter, you can tell who watches a lot of football based on their Tre takes. He was bad early last year. They then benched him and moved on. He played quite well in Baltimore. That was the best football he played in some time.

Beane is overrated, really dumb move.

I’m going to guess the AS post which includes agent names is very incentive based $$$. It’s additional depth at a position of need. Likely tells you they will take a preferred cb very early and don’t necessarily have to take another cb later. So not a dumb move depending on actual $$$.

Wow that certainly complicates the draft plans. Now if we draft a CB early they don't necessarily have a clear path to start. I no longer have any clue what to expect next week.

Expand

It just "might" take a little pressure off, but I still suspect that a CB or two are still in the Bills draft plans.
