I love Tre, but man this really annoys me with Beane. The defense has been the reason we've been bounced every single post-season, and he continues to just go sign the same old vets year after year, and then wonders why we can't get over the hump to get to the SB.

I agree.  He had his time here and some great moments.

Can we just be a serious team?!?  not a stopover for all the ex-Bills who loved playing here and miss the good ol days, on their way to retirements.

Pack your ***** Ukka Pekka Looktheyscoredagain.  See ya later, Levi.  Good day to you, Reimer.   We found ARE goalie!

I am also drinking for the heroic run to 8th worst place in the league for the Sabres. Maybe not this much.

I do like 47's play of late, plus he has the best nickname ever... Reimer "The Ancient Mariner

I think you move him to the Poyer role and transition him into his second act here. He knows the scheme he can really help back there. I’d rather have him starting with a head start if he lost a step

Well there ya go. Buffalo tells the entire NFL "Don't expect us to reach for a CB with our top pick" right?

Right?

It at least gives the illusion that they don't have to. Tre as a #1 CB was cooked. Tre as a #2 behind Benford and 2 years removed from his injury may not be as bad as some think.

He knows the system, terminology, communication. I think bringing him back to a system he is familiar in has value.

Man, I see a lot of complaining going on for a signing that doesn't mean a whole lot.  Look, Tre's injuries got the best of him last year (as would be expected) and he wasn't near the same player he was with us prior to the injuries.  I do think he was much better with the Ravens than he was with the Rams, but he was replacement level.

That said, Beane does this every year.  He signs aging, previously talented vets hoping they still have a little left in the tank to fill obvious holes so they don't have a glaring position of need that forces their hand in the draft.  I'm not sure why people are upset with this.  I am sure they worked him out and gave him a physical and have a good understanding of where he is physically.  We don't have the exact contract details yet, but I am sure the numbers and guarantees don't promise him roster spot let alone a starting job or anything.  He will probably have a chance to compete for a job and he can be an asset in the locker room all while mentoring the young guys in the room.  And, like I said....that's if he even makes the team.

There is no need to be upset here.  This changes absolutely nothing in terms of the draft.  If CB is the BPA, they will still take a CB at 30.  All this does is make it so they don't have another Elam situation where everyone and their mothers knew we needed to take a CB with our first pick.  this just gives us some flexibility that if there is another player at a different position we have ranked higher on the board, that we can take him instead of taking a CB we have ranked lower.  Quite honestly, another year removed from his injuries, and already knowing the system is an added bonus if he has to be a stop gap until a young guy is ready to take the job.  This is so much better than adding Dane Jackson, or Bradberry, or something like that.  This was a move that was going to be made regardless of the player.  The fact that we know this player so well is just a bonus if you ask me.

So yeah......welcome back, Tre!  Here's hoping you still have something left and can compete at a high level.  If if doesn't work out, so be it, but I'm rooting for you.  Can't wait until the draft!

Great signing, Tre is 2 years removed from his surgery and looked healthy in the playoffs with the Ravens.  We need an experienced CB  and he’ll be a leader on the defense with his Bills background. I think he has plenty left. With a quality 2nd or 3rd rd. CB, and a penetrating DT that will be an anchor for our D-line all of a sudden we have filled all of our defensive needs.

I agree 100%.

He actually wasn’t , he was abysmal for the Rams. He was a serviceable player for the Ravens

Interesting? Did you watch any ravens games cuz I watched them all. He wasn’t great but he was good especially at the end of the season. There’s no downside to this / salary cap isn’t real

He was a solid #3 on the Ravens and improved.

They didn't sign him to run with Worthy in the AFCCG. He's gonna provide depth and mentoring to a young draft pick. He may play a decent amount early in the year but I'd bet a lot he isn't your #2 CB in January. I literally don't see any downside. Heck he might even end up on the practice squad (although I bet he's on the 53)

I think there's like a 40% chance he makes the 54, but hoping he's willing to be on the practice squad. From what I saw of him, he's not better than either current form Dane Jackson or Ingram, and the Bills have a kid they drafted last season who played a ton of slot at college in Daequan Hardy, as well as Codrington who who provides emergency depth at corner while being the punt returner, plus you can pretty much guarentee Buffalo will draft at least one corner int he first 3 rounds

Did he? Because all I remember from that Ravens game was him being beat by Keon friggin' Coleman and drawing a PI flag to prevent more.

Tre changes nothing. He either makes the squad as depth, in which case Dane Jackson or Ja'Marcus Ingram is gone, or he's cut after Camp. But in no way is he someone they're relying on, in my opinion.

I haven't read through this thread, but already see some uncomplimentary thoughts. Fair enough.

I am divorcing myself from wins and losses here to say I love Trey White and am thrilled he is back. He is an all-time favorite of mine, and the world is better when he is wearing our blue and red.

Disagree and toss your negative emojis at me all you want. I am a happier Bills fan this evening than I was this morning. FWIW, I was already happy this morning.

Yay Trey and go Bills!

2 years after the achilles and acl....maybe he's healed and can at least be effective?

We needed some help at Goalie. Worth a shot.

Tre has always been one of my favorite Bills.

Such a hard worker - and a true perfectionist when it came to his game.  Terrible luck w/ injuries.  This might be a surprisingly great move if he can get back to some of his old form.  He was a top 3 CB at one time.

I hope we can get a title while he's here.  No one not named Josh Allen deserves it more.

We can hope...definitely didn't look up to the task last year...

He sucked with the Rams, which is why they traded him to the Ravens for a pick swap.

The thing is, the Rams had him starting and playing almost every snap.

The Ravens had him playing only about 1/3 of the snaps, and he actually did OK for them.

Achilles are usually a 2 year recovery IF the player can come back.  So maybe by the end of the season, Tre was starting to come back?

I don't believe the $6.8M thing.  That's an "up to", meaning if he hits every target for a bonus.
