I put 3 slits in it so it doesn’t curl. On bread with ketchup.

Onion roll with Swiss cheese, peppers and mushrooms.

Called a "Helicopter Sandwich" in Cheektowaga... OLD Frankie's Diner, near corner of Clinton & Harlem.

A fried baloney sandwich on a roll with thick sliced bologna, provolone, onions, and mayo is a damn delicacy!  For a change of pace, try Taylor Ham (pork roll) instead of baloney.

This is very strange, but just yesterday I went down the packaged cheese and meats aisle and spotted bologna. I thought back to those sandwiches as a kid, and the only thing I can remember being addeď was some sautéed onions.  Maybe a little yellow mustard? Delicious as I recall, and it’s probably a good thing I forgot about them!

I have never tried one.

I would like to, but then I remembered that this was Doug Marrone’s favorite meal.

I do love bologna and cheese.

But I thought I was the only one that had weird food quirks like that.  There was in another lifetime a manager I had who always ate or drank Stonyfield organic products.  She wasn’t the easiest person to work for her and her breathe a lot of times smelled bad.

So yes I still can’t eat or drink that product

I went to a Polish deli recently and got a Bologna ring.  So good and not full of the preservatives like they put in certain store brands

Okay, do you guys get thin sliced baloney and stack it for your sandwiches, or do you get real thick steak-cut baloney?

I'm partial to the former.

That sounds absolutely disgusting.

How long should I fry it on each side?

Until it starts to get some char.

Pat it dry, no oil?

A good baloney has plenty of fat that will melt out when you fry it. Don't cheap out on the baloney. Get something of quality.

A bar food staple

My Uncle said you used to be able to get a Fried Bologna sandwich at the stadium when it was in it's Rich Stadium heyday years

You made me look, and I was surprised to see cigarettes on the menu for 70 cents at Rich Stadium.

I seem to remember them in the mid to late 1990's. Not sure when they stopped selling them.

My Uncle had his season tickets from 86 to 96 so that would check out.  Said it was his halftime ritual to go grab a friend baloney sammy
