Kathy Hochul will find a way to come up with the money just like she did for the Bills. It will suck that it will be at taxpayer expense but that it is my prediction.

Buffalo taxpayers are not going to pay for it lol

It's going from Erie county which has a massive budget to the city which does not..

Hochul was a part of the bills project because the state money ... Unless New York state is giving money for the sabres arena she's going to have no part of the project

Leafs play the Sabres tonight. Normally that means 10-12K Toronto fans at Key Bank Center. But right now they're are thousands of unsold seats. Canadians aren't crossing the border now. That represents about 500,000 drop in market size for the Bandits and Sabres. It really raises the question if these franchises can survive with a big reduction in market. (The Bills will be hurt somewhat but they only play once a week. Sabres okay 2-4x a week.)

It sits on a valuable piece of real estate.

I could see a deal where someone buys the property deeply discounted in exchange for making the needed repairs and renovations.  The city would take a hit on the value of the property on paper, but the alternative is to have the team walk away from the city and end up with a venue that sits empty for 350 days a year.

I will say the economics of that venue are a lot harder to justify now that cross border traffic has plummeted.

Cheektowaga Sabres.

🤔

Sabreland in Wheatfield still standing?

Pardon the picture, at least it isn't a video. 🤨

It’s now Hockey Outlet … nothing better than a January 6am practice at that unheated barn. I spent many many days there over the years involved in the wheatfield travel program. Great memories
