There were two broadcast games on Sunday. My impressions, the running was enjoyable, and the defenses were competent. The teams seemed evenly matched. Close games.

Camerawork and clarity were decent; there were games in the NFL last year where you could barely pick out the ball, the images were blurry, and the cameras were all over the field, too far away, or too close in. A nice balance today on ESPN/ ABC. The announcers in some NFL games last year were too busy talking to bother to even follow the action on the field. Not today’s games. Seeing the coaches more and calling the plays was nice.

I really liked the transparency of everything. The officials seemed much better than the NFL. Last season in the NFL, the officials were horrible and determined too many games. Wish the NFL could get their act together on officiating. The officials worked quickly and didn’t slow down the game; they were fair, balanced, and made rapid decisions. In the NFL, the officials were inconsistent and played oblivious favorites on the field.

The only obvious drawback was the quality of the QBs and the WRs, guess there are just not enough talented players at those positions who will work cheaply enough.

Overall, worth checking out.

Yeah, I bet oline and dline look fine too, even though the players would all get snuffed out in the NFL. The skill positions are where the talent gap is most visible, even though there is a huge talent gap at other positions as well. Just less visible.

I've been watching spring football since the AAF. CFL starts next month as well. I will watch football if it is available. Wanted to get into the EFL but they want a $120 subscription. With two free options, I'll stick to Youtube recaps.

I am a DC Defenders fan because I feel like their fanbase is closely related to ours with the tailgating (beer snake) and the lemon incident. Looking very good so far this year, had our whole coaching staff quit a week before the season and haven't missed a beat at 3-0.

If you are an old person like myself (40+) the UFL's brand of football will be instantly recognizable as very 90s. While the NFL did have some elite QBs then, most of the QB play was mediocre at best. That's about where the UFL is at.

I'm waiting for CFL. I enjoy going to Hamilton for Tiger-Cats games. I live in Lewiston so the distance to Hamilton is about the same for me as the distance it is to HIghmark Stadium. The CFL's rule differences make it unique and a lot more enjoyable than just watered down NFL style football in the UFL.

I watched a couple games this weekend. I enjoy UFL more than golf or MLB. Sorry.

Took a peak at the games just to see if they're any good. Honestly, they're terrible up until about the last 5 or 6 mins. One of the games I was watching the other week was tied 3-3 in the 4th quarter. It's was terrible, but somehow these games always end up close at the end and they come down to a final possession.

I've said in the past and I'll keep saying it, they greatly need to change the rules of this league. Get rid of punting completely. 4 downs for each team, if they can't get a first the ball goes to the other team. Shorten the quarters to 10 mins. 3 hours of ufl football is brutal. Also, I've long said the nfl should get involved on this league. Get these games inside nfl stadiums. They will never draw what the nfl does but there is the possibility of making it watchable and enjoyable.

Being addicted to the NFL and trying to get your fix from watching the UFL is like being addicted to sex and trying to get your fix from looking at the "intimates" section of the Sears catalogue.

Honestly, none of these spring leagues are going to match the AAF for quality. That league was awesome. Great teams, lots of recognizable guys (Trent Richardson, Johnny Manziel, Christian Hackenburg), and good production quality. It's a shame they fell apart so fast.

I don't understand why Fox, for instance, doesn't just put up reruns of Simpsons or Family guy, which regularly are beating the UFL thus far.  Why spend all that money on production when reruns cost nothing and provide advertisers with better numbers?

So here’s the thing — I only like the NFL and college football. If they’re not on I have absolutely zero interest in seeing some minor league product. But I’m not writing this to piss on your thread, just stating how I feel  Obviously there are some people who are enjoying it.

When do the Jets play?

NFL relegation! (Don't laugh too hard. We would have been there not long ago.)

Summer is the worst time of year for sports, for me. So to have normal 4-down football to watch is something I like. But one thing I really enjoy about the UFL is the open audio between coaches, players and officials. I love hearing what's being discussed. I like hearing the replay judges explain why they ruled the way they did.

why does the stadium matter?  they are near empty--how would it be more enjoyable or watchable in an NFL stadium (only 4 teams would be in proximity to one for home games)?
