So then... punt?

🙃

No.  I just wanted to give a thumbnail description of the group.  In the first round, I think Hairston and Revel are probably reasonable values.  Amos might be a bit of a reach, but not outrageously so.  Revel's injury is something teams will be aware of, but if medically it looks like his recovery is going well, I would be very willing to take a chance.  The Bills will have to decide if Hairston can be a good fit for them.  I really like Morrison in round 2, though there is a good chance he doesn't last until the Bills pick.  Amos will almost certainly be gone by #56.   If Buffalo needs to get their CB in round 2 and Morrison and Amos are gone, I would be willing to gamble on Porter despite some technical issues. I'd even settle for Thomas, but the speed issue still concerns me.

I'm hoping for Revel with a small trade down into the 2nd...

I don't know anything more about his recovery than anyone else. I'm just hopeful. What I do know is before that injury he was the exact type of explosive athlete this team needs at CB and his play in run support is top notch... I just like everything about Revel as a prospect and how his game projects to the modern day NFL. And I know I'm assuming a lot with the recovery, but I have not heard anything negative either. He's definitely my favorite CB in this Draft. Big, athletic, great vs the run and an explosive athlete. If the knee is good, and we can get him in the 2nd, I think it's a steal. B-)

I like the kids that skipped the NIL money to stay with their school - which Revel did.

I feel like the Dane Jackson and White signings put Revel and Porter a lot more in play. You already have a floor of Dane Jackson who is serviceable but mediocre. A mentor in White to help them with the scheme and not be forced into action before they are confident to play.

They both have high ceilings with their physical attributes. Also, seem like Bills type of guys. Rebel could have chased, probably mid six figure NIL money, going into the year and Porter was a part of a program that focuses on humbleness and team goals. (I have a family member that played at Iowa State for 5 years and am well aware of the culture Matt Campbell has instilled.)

Revel or Porter certainly would seem more likely now.  At least 1 should be available around pick 50 where we could do a small trade up if we felt inclined.

both players are 24 however

It won't be Will Johnson.  He'll be long gone by #30 and Beane is not going to give up the draft capital it would take to move up and get him.  I hope they don't pick Azareye'h Thomas.  The Bills need to find some speed in the back end of the defense and 4.59 doesn't do that.  Hairston may not be a great fit.  Porter is raw and a projection but as a gamble might pay off.  Revel and Morrison are both recovering from injury, so there is some modest risk.  Trey Amos might be the safest pick, but is a reach in round 1 and might not be on the board at #56.

Good post

I am NOT drafting a project at 30 regardless of any other factors. Tre White included.

Bills should be in win now mode with this draft. Find your dang projects in the 4th , if we haven't traded them away lol

Draft Buzz on REVEL:

The 6'3", 193-pound boundary corner burst onto the scene in 2023, transforming from a special teams ace into a shutdown artist for the Pirates. After working the graveyard shift at Amazon to chase his football dreams, Revel showed up at an ECU camp, ran a blazing 4.40, and jumped out of the building with an 11-foot broad jump. The Pirates took a chance on the JUCO product, and that bet paid off in spades - until a cruel twist of fate struck in September 2024 when he went down with an ACL tear in practice.

Before the injury, Revel was making waves as a potential top-15 pick, putting together a highlight reel that had NFL scouts burning up the phone lines to Winston-Salem. His 2023 campaign was a masterclass in defensive back play - 54 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and the kind of special teams impact that makes coordinators giddy, including two blocked kicks to close out the season.

Draft Buzz on PORTER:

The ceiling here is a legitimate starting corner who can match up with the NFL's new breed of supersized receivers. His combination of length, speed and ball skills is exactly what teams are looking for on the outside in today's game. While age is a minor concern, Porter's rapid development curve and elite athletic traits suggest he could develop into a quality starter by year two. Day two feels like the sweet spot for a corner with his unique skill set and immediate special teams impact.

The 6'2", 197-pound corner closed out his Cyclone career with 51 tackles, 3 interceptions, and an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection, but the raw numbers only tell part of the story. His impact was felt beyond the box score, as Iowa State reached two Big 12 Championship games and five bowl games during his tenure. Porter's academic achievements, including multiple Academic All-Big 12 honors, speak to his dedication to improvement both on and off the field.

Both noted as ST impact  = likely high on Bills CB rankings

It does appear that after bringing in Dane + Tre , who were raised in McDermotts system has a deeper reasoning behind it. Beyond being able to have 3 CBs who are able to play day one , they are setting up for a Project CB. You might be onto something 07

Wish it wasn't this year
