Permanent Daylights Savings Time

This is different than what a couple states do which is opt out of daylight savings time, which is allowed. But staying on daylights savings is federally prohibited. 

 

This is something Florida has been pushing for, for years. My guess is it's largely due to tourism. In the winter, if you want to grab dinner, have a drink and watch the sun set on the West coast, you have to get the Early Bird Special. At least this would give you an extra hour in morning on the East coast and an extra hour on the West coast in the evening.

Been in favor of this for a long time. Many benefits wrt energy usage and health, few drawbacks. If people have an issue with kids & buses, look at changing school start time. 
 

It passed unanimously in a full Senate vote a couple of years ago and then never got taken up in the House.

There are a number of school districts who have eliminated buses, and school might mandate that parents drive their kids to school to eliminate walking in the dark.

Never will happen  DST will harm people!  Really bad for northern latitudes, let alone people's health.

 

Make it permanent STANDARD Time.

 

It's NOT called "standard" without a reason!

It's because the Senate didn't know what they were voting on. LoL... They try to sneak it through.  It's really bad for your health DST.

I am 1000% of Daylight Savings Time being permanent. 

So we'll crash in the dark going to work/school in winter up here just west of the time zone when it's still dark at 09:00+ in morning.   Insane!

 

Just go back to tried and true.  Farmers & railroads we're wrong.  We all need to retire at night earlier anyway.  Arizona & Hawaii get it.  Too damn hot in summer anyway.

It's because they (Florida) are a more Southern Latitude... Now problem, deadly skin in game for them.

 

I have been on shiftwork for over 35 years... Why don't they just put the final bullet in my head. LoL... Get in line fellas!😉😜

Yeah... Sunrise at 9am in morning just west of the time zone for northern latitudes in winter...  No thank you.

 

Seattle & Duluth won't be happy with an unGodly sunrise time of 9am in winter. 😆  Accidents going to work.

One thing I've noticed having grown up in the Norh East and now in Florida for several years, people cherish the summers up North because the season is so short. When you're out at a picnic, baseball or softball game, folks are out sitting in the sun soaking it up.

 

In the South, most folks avoid the sun like vampires. Anyone working outside is completely covered head to toe. faces covered too. I see almost as many umbrellas on sunny days as I do on rainy days. Canopies are a must at afternoon little league games.

 

Not saying one or the other is better. It's just the way it is with so much sun all year round in the South and so many overcast days in the North.

The problem is the Earth’s axis tips; they need to put a big-ass come along on the moon, run a line there, and straighten us out. That will be easier than getting Congress to agree to do anything.

Just go back to the way it was, where every city sets their clocks by when the sun is directly overhead at noon.

Look up why Arizona stays on Standard Time.  Too damn hot.  You'd think, being more muggy in South, they'd follow AZ...

It's called: "Live on a time zone line.  Pick the west side for more morning light, east side for evening light.

But honestly... DST in winter is horrible the further north latitude (or south if Southern Hemisphere does it) you go.

 

But... We got it easy, just imagine Ramadan @ the Arctic Circle in the month of December... Those guys got it rough!😆🤣

I had an install one time, where our hotel was on the border of one state, the site was across the border in the next state. The border itself was the time zone line. But also, for some reason, the city where the site was, observed the time zone of the state where our hotel was. So we’d go from one time zone, into another, then into another, driving back and forth to work.

For a time I owned a delivery business and was on the road in a large truck by 6am …. Driving dark roads in the winter was never the most fun activity, and having to wait until 830a for the sunrise was a definite no from me.
